Hardenbergia ‘Happy Wanderer’ is putting on a spectacular display right now, smothered in masses of rich purple blooms throughout winter when many gardens are craving colour.

As you walk through the nursery admiring these beautiful blooms, you may notice something else too – just how healthy, vibrant and robust our plants look.

That’s no accident.

At Harmony, our plants are grown with plenty of love and the support of advanced European-designed nursery technology inspired by growing systems from the Netherlands, a country renowned worldwide for producing some of the healthiest and highest-quality horticultural crops and plants.

Think of it like an athlete training in a world-class facility. The better the environment, the better the performance. By reducing plant stress and protecting plants from harsh weather extremes, they can focus their energy on developing stronger root systems, healthier growth and greater resilience.

The result is plants that are happier, stronger and better prepared for life in your garden.

And while our plants are benefiting from this innovative growing environment, you can enjoy browsing our climate-controlled, all-weather nursery in comfort, whatever Tasmania decides to throw at us outside.

Have you seen Hardenbergia ‘Happy Wanderer’ in full flower yet? Send us your favourite pictures of their colourful display 🙏

People often ask what sets Harmony apart, and for me it’s the experience. We’ve worked hard to create a destination that feels different from a traditional garden centre. It’s a place where you can slow down, explore, be inspired and enjoy the surroundings, whether you’re a passionate gardener or simply looking for ideas for your home and garden.

We’re a family-owned business built on strong values, with a genuine commitment to sustainability, innovation and supporting our local community. While we grow a selection of plants ourselves, our focus has always been on carefully sourcing quality plants and products and backing them with honest advice and friendly service.

What I hear most from customers is how much they enjoy visiting. From the atmosphere and unique range to the knowledge of our team, Harmony offers an experience that’s hard to put into words until you’ve seen it for yourself. If you haven’t visited before, I’d encourage you to come and have a look around. You might just leave with a little more inspiration than you expected.

A big thank you to everyone who tuned in to Gardening Talkback on ABC Hobart this morning.

We covered a wide range of winter gardening topics including sooty mould on citrus, pruning fruit trees and growing better raspberries, along with plenty of great questions from gardeners across Tasmania. The best part of the program is always hearing what’s happening in your gardens and helping solve a few gardening mysteries along the way.

If you missed the show, you can listen back here:

One thing I’d like to do more of is answer your gardening questions right here on Facebook. Whether it’s a possum that’s treating your garden like an all-you-can-eat buffet, a citrus tree looking a little sad, or a plant you simply can’t identify, send me a message or leave a comment.

I read as many questions as I can and enjoy helping fellow gardeners get the most from their gardens.

And if you’re out and about this winter, remember Harmony’s fully undercover nursery means you can browse comfortably whatever the weather. It’s also one of the reasons our plants look so good year-round.

What gardening challenge are you tackling this winter?

Has something been nibbling your carrot tops? Andrew Clark gives you the prognosis.

There’s a real buzz around Harmony this weekend, with creativity flowing and plenty happening throughout the garden centre.

While you’re here, don’t miss our beautiful range of handcrafted ceramic gifts, all made right here in Tasmania. From stunning ceramic garden flowers that add colour and charm year-round to our popular bee feeders, which are back by popular demand. These beautiful ceramic flowers not only make a unique gift but also provide a safe place for bees to stop for a drink. Designed to hold a small amount of water, they offer pollinators a safe landing spot to rest and rehydrate without the risk of drowning. If a bee appears exhausted, some people choose to offer a small amount of sugar water as a temporary energy boost.

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at pottery, be sure to check out our upcoming classes on our website. Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, create something special, or simply enjoy a relaxing and creative experience, our workshops are proving very popular.
Beautiful craftsmananship made on site and perfect for the home or garden.

Join Kate for our Friday Walk Through as she showcases some of the beautiful plants looking their best right now at Harmony.

This week we feature a stunning duo of Happy Wanderer, with blue and white flowering plants woven together as one. The result is a spectacular display of colour that will become a real feature in the garden.

Kate also highlights the beautiful Blushing Bride. While it can be a little challenging to grow in the ground in Tasmania, it performs exceptionally well in pots, making it a fantastic choice for patios, courtyards and entertaining areas.

You’ll also see our beautiful range of Proteaceae and one of our exciting new arrivals, Olive ‘Bambalina’. This compact olive has a naturally attractive habit and is ideal for pots, low hedging and coastal gardens where it will provide year-round interest.

Our bare root roses have now arrived and are available to shop both in-store and online. With a fantastic range of varieties available, now is the perfect time to secure your favourites before the best selections sell out.

We’re open all weekend from 9.00am to 4.30pm and look forward to helping you with your garden projects.

Fruit tree season is nearly here and many of you are already preparing your gardens for planting.

The warmer start to winter has meant fruit trees have been slower than usual to drop their leaves, so our bare-root fruit trees are arriving a little later than normal. We are expecting the first deliveries in early July and they won't be far away now.

If you're planning to plant fruit trees this season, we recommend ordering online soon to secure your preferred varieties. Many are already selling quickly and we would hate for you to miss out.

Our raspberry canes are expected to arrive within the next week. Bare-root strawberries have been delayed by the warmer winter conditions, so please keep an eye on the website for arrival updates.

New season seed potatoes have arrived and there is plenty happening in the productive garden right now.

Growing your own fruit is one of the most rewarding things you can do in the garden. Fresh apples, pears, plums, peaches and berries picked straight from your backyard are hard to beat.

If you're unsure which varieties are best for your garden, come and have a chat with us. We grow plants, we garden ourselves, and we understand what performs well in local conditions. Whether you're planting your first fruit tree or expanding an established orchard, we're happy to help you choose the right plants for years of productive harvests.

Browse and order online here:

Get your planting areas prepared now and we'll look forward to helping you grow your own fruit this season.

🌱 Looking for a lawn alternative that doesn’t have you spending every weekend mowing?

Join Kate as she showcases our beautiful Zen Grass® Zoysia, a unique low-maintenance lawn alternative that creates a stunning rippling, undulating effect across the garden.

Perfect for coastal gardens and low-use areas, Zen Grass is drought, frost and heat tolerant, grows in sun or shade, and typically only needs trimming once a year to maintain its natural flowing appearance.

Unlike traditional Japanese temple grass, Zen Grass establishes much faster, forms a dense weed-suppressing cover, and is tough enough to handle pets, foot traffic and everyday garden life.

Whether you’re creating a Japanese-inspired garden, planting between pavers, replacing thirsty lawn areas, or simply looking for a smarter, lower-maintenance option, Zen Grass is well worth a look.

Have you visited Harmony lately?

If you’ve been following us online but have never visited, or haven’t been in for a while, this weekend is the perfect time to see just how much has changed!

Along the way, Kate highlights some stunning new Protea arrivals, our flowering Billy Buttons ($13.95 each or 3 for $40), and a fantastic selection of half-price pots priced to clear before stocktake.

Kate also showcases our exclusive chemical-free seedlings, grown right here on site using natural growing principles. No unnecessary chemicals—because we give a s**t about what goes into your garden and onto your plate.
