Nature makes the rules; we follow.

Attachment is usually related to things we don't want to lose.

But we always seem to have something we bend the rules on, like using fossil fuels, growing introduced gardens from across the world or cutting down the trees for a view.

Ideally, a bit of balance is involved and a few more caveats inserted (Invasive species replaced for native animal, bee, bird, frog, butterfly and bush tucker habitat, WORSHIP the SOIL, creatures and elements- and the mycorrhizal fungi that links us all together.)

Acknowledge and support Country, Indigenous people & culture and help wherever they request us to heal damage we have caused.

It's time to mulch, if you don't have time I can do it for you!

+ Weeding, pruning and garden care.

There are some great landscape suppliers with prompt delivery around Launceston that I like to recommend but if you have a preference, have the mulch delivered by your supplier of choice and I can spread it for you.

Update on my native garden... she grew a carpet of weeds while life had other plans for me- I let them get bigger as a protective layer for the soil, which made it easier to pull them when the time came.

I've tried to get to them before they set seed, though I've now done a thick mulch which will inhibit germination.

Progress shots might be poor quality (I'm not opposed to gardening in the dark 🙊)

B E F O R E & A F T E R the final clean up.

Following on from yesterday's post

I have pulled the mulch away from the crown of the roses to prevent rot related diseases.

picked up all fallen rose leaves to reduce the spread of fungal diseases.

Created a symmetrical balance between the roses pictured.

Thought needs to go into which node to prune to.

Reducing the amount of old wood stimulates healthy new water shoots from the crown of the plant.

Ideally pruning should occur when the plant is completely dormant as pruning too early will stimulate the plant to put energy into new growth.

The aspect it's planted will have it's own micro-climate and dictates the optimal time to prune.

Before & After: 5 years for the vision of this section of garden to come to fruition (because parenting and studies and mental health, indecision, weather too hot weather too cold & ever-evolving vision and jackpot landscape discoveries that change the plans again! which have also been spots for contemplation, long before the plants finally went in this week.

She still needs a load of mulch, but in the meantime I can sit with appreciation and gratitude and will these little babies to grow.

A mix of natives, endemics & a threatended species, bird and butterfly attracting and plants that give me that feeling where my heart sings 🎶

•All tubestock: Habitat Nursery, Liffey 👌
•Larger plants from various nurseries around Launceston.

Hello all!

Earth & Nurture has taken a change in direction.. thought I had better briefly explain as I'm no longer offering massage services. Unfortunately a short journey on an old path and a massive energy burn-out, a culmination of this crazy old year.

I'm back on the path of least resistance and utilising my horticulture studies from 2017-18. For now school is out for summer and therefore, so am I (they're only kids for a minute)

Gardening services recommence February 2021, in the meantime enquiries welcome, text preferred 0422211451 I will endeavour to reply ASAP.

offering chemical-free (no pesticides/herbicides) weeding, pruning, manual labour, plant care & advice. Currently filling green bins and/or compost.

Please stay safe and make the most of summer, Merry Christmas!
Cheers, Jenna
