As a Sydney Coordinator, (Ar. Iftekhar Abdullah, Principal Architect of ideas Architects) i am delighted to share highlights from the book launch of “Old Dhaka New Storey” by internationally acclaimed architect Professor Rafiq Azam.
The program brought together an inspiring gathering of local and international architects, academics, and distinguished guests, including Glenn Murcutt AO, the only recipient of most prestigious Prtizker Award in Australia.
The Pritzker Architecture Prize is widely considered the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for architecture.
Other distinguished architects of Australia were in the program, Philip Cox AO, Louise Cox AO, Alec Tzannes AM, David Holm, Tim Horton, and Professor Kinohiro from Japan and many other renowned figures in the architectural world.
Alongside of the book launch, there were screening of the documentary on Rafiq “The Light & Earth” by National Award-winning director Shakha Das Gupta. The event took place at the Sydney Opera House on 26 March, a day of special significance as we celebrate Independence Day.
With over 30 years of practice, Professor Rafiq Azam is globally recognized for developing a unique architectural language that harmoniously blends nature, tradition, and spirituality. As the founder of SHATOTTO – architecture for green living, he is also a dedicated educator and mentor, continually inspiring the next generation of architects.
This global book launch initiative spans approximately 23 countries, with its journey beginning at the iconic Sydney Opera House.
