We began our change to organics after buying 10 acres at Mullumbimby & started growing veges. After 12 years & lots of hard work we converted a "cow paddock" into a really productive organic market garden.

This is so damn accurate, wake up Australia!! This is still a great country in comparison to others around the world but our pollies need a big boot up the arse for what they have done. The changes in the political attitude over the last 50 years makes me cry, the criteria is no longer for the benefit of the people but for the Almighty $. 😓😓

With the recent hot & dry weather it's important to remember the benefits of mulching around your plants, however in this video I show that you need to check the effectively of your watering. cheers Dave😉

Naughty, but nice: Species 514 found at Bellis, my sustainable garden is also the 26th bee species.

Megachile deanii (syn Rhodomegachile deanii) the small fire-tailed resin bee.

I've seen these active insects zooming around, pollinating flowers (they love goldenrod) but it wasn't until we split my stingless bee hives that they settled down long enough for a photo.

This solitary bee steals cerumen from stingless bee colonies to build individual nesting tubes. Their numbers have increased in tandem with more gardeners keeping stingless bees.

Watch them nicking cerumen:
