It’s almost time for our annual tuber sale!
We had an unseasonably wet year so some cultivars have not produced or stored as well as we would have hoped. But there will still many beautiful cultivars available to purchase, and the tubers are ready to go to their new homes - just like one of my favourites Glenmarc Francis as pictured above. We will be announcing our sale time via email over the coming days, so if you haven’t already done so, please add your email address to the subscription section at the bottom of our website. And please check your spam folders too, as sometimes notifications can land there too.
We have finished our stocktake and over the coming days we will be updating the website with available cultivars in readiness for the sale announcement. We thank you all for your patience this year, and hope you find something special to add to your garden…

Still have a little room in your garden beds?
We have now allocated our planting stock for our farm, so we have a small collection of excess tubers available ready for their new homes.
Our website has been updated with the available cultivars (however they will currently be showing as “sold out”). Link is in our bio above 👆🏻
Please note that the site will be temporarily offline shortly prior to the sale to allow us to update stock numbers, and the site will be open for orders from 7pm.

Hope you find a few beauties,

Sam x

A big floral thankyou to everyone who participated in our recent dahlia sale. We are overwhelmed by your support and appreciate each and every order.
We have now closed any further orders on our website and packing of orders will begin this week and into October. We have returned photos of all our cultivars to the site for your future reference/garden planning.
Once we have finished sending orders and planting our own stock, we are planning to re-list any excess stock to the site in a smaller second release in late October/early November, so ensure you are subscribed to our mailing list to get the details.
Thanks again for your support and kind words during our sale,
Sam x

It’s coming very soon!
After a few long days in the shed we have finally finished our tuber stocktake and are getting ready for our annual tuber sale. Website subscribers will be notified at least 48 hours prior of the date and time, so if you are not already on our mailing list, jump on the website (link in bio) and add your email to our subscription box.
The sale will be publicly advertised to socials one hour after opening, so subscribers can get in first to secure their favourites.
We personally know how stressful the “dahlia hunger games” can be, so we have decided to combine shipping on orders placed within a 24 hour period.
Further details will be provided to our subscribers prior to the sale.
May the dahlia odds be ever in your favour..

The change in season is really starting to be felt over the last two weeks. Dahlias are blowing their centres to expose their pollen for the bees, in a last minute attempt to create seed before winter and ultimate die back sets in. Mildew has also started to take over, and the plants are looking tired and ready to hibernate - I can start to sympathise too as the close of my season arrives 😉.
But alas, there is no rest for me with a mass of weeding, bed prep, transplanting and seedling planting forecast for the next few weeks, whilst I wait for the dahlias to completely die back for the big annual dig and divide in about 6 weeks time.
Strangely, it is a time I enjoy - pulling out the old crops to make room for the new. Stripping everything back to its bare bones again and dreaming of next season.
But tonight, I did take time to stop and enjoy the last or the spent cosmos against the evening sky, and admire their airy beauty for one last time this year before they are destined for the compost heap.

If you ask my girls what their favourite dahlia is, they will always say this one - Cornflake. In fact, most people who visit my cutting patch are instantly drawn to this bright yet variable cultivar.
Whilst I can appreciate its whimsical and sunny charm, it has never been high up on my favourites list. But I must admit that whilst giving the plants a good deadhead today in preparation for the rainy weekend ahead, it looked particularly lovely.
What followed was a quick salvage from the dead heading pile, a hasty arrangement on a dirt patch in the cutting garden, and now a floral flatlay for your enjoyment.
And maybe, it could have just made it higher up on my favourites list by a few notches too…
If you want to add her to your favourites list too, tubers should be available in our Spring sales this year.

Well Hello, Autumn! We are welcoming the season change with open arms and excitement for the beautiful blooms on the horizon.
Autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the beauty of dahlias, as they reach their peak flowering season here in the southern Australia - especially if your planting was a little late like ours, too 😎.
This gorgeous cultivar is La Recoleta. She is always first (and last) to flower each season and is the closest dahlia we grow that falls into the “black” category.
Whilst there are no naturally occurring true black flowers in nature, some varieties achieve their dark hue through a phenomenon called “anthocyanin overexpression,” where pigments responsible for colours like red and purple become highly concentrated, creating the illusion of black.
Whilst La Recoleta is a shorter growing decorative dahlia with miniature sized blooms, she still has wonderfully long stems for both bouquets or just to admire in the garden.
We are looking forward to sharing this one during tuber sales coming in Spring, so get her on your wishlist 😍
