Last week we completed the handover of a purpose built Specialised Disability Accommodation (SDA) accessible house in Loxton, which is designed to allow National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants to live independently with some support.
Each bedroom has its own accessible ensuite, with the kitchen and open plan living area also designed with participants in mind. Wider doors, an internal video intercom system, access outside to a fully landscaped garden and a solar battery backup system are some other features that are part of this house.
The owners of this project were extremely happy with the high quality of the build and look forward to when NDIS participants move in to enjoy this new house.

We had the great pleasure of handing over a new house yesterday. It was fantastic to see the smiles from both the parents and kids when they walked in to their completed new home.
One of the key requirements from our client was for their new home to be highly energy efficient and this was certainly achieved with a 7.4 star energy rating (plus some upgrades during construction).
There were lots of positive comments on the huge amount of natural light and warmth in the main living areas.
Some of the key features are a passive solar design, high levels of insulation, double glazed windows, cross flow ventilation, natural light into key living spaces, minimising air leakage, efficient appliances, etc.
This passive solar design works by maximising the heat gain from the sun during winter while remaining cooler during the summer months by shading the glazing.
Well done to all our staff and tradespeople on delivering such a well designed and beautifully finished house.

Thankyou to the Goldings for entrusting Arche Design Services with the design of their dream home at Victor Harbor. We started this project back in March 2022, with design development taking about twelve months. A number of different concepts were assessed before settling on the final design. The site has expansive ocean views out to Granite Island and The Bluff. Our design maximises these views while also meeting all the other key requirements of the clients. Some of the key features are ocean views from all bedrooms, a raked timber ceiling in the upper living area, a protected lower alfresco area to the rear, plenty of internal storage and high levels of insulation/double glazing to promote energy efficiency. The incorporation of a lift allows easy access between levels. 4Life Constructions have done a great job, completing construction earlier this year.

Construction is well underway on a highly energy efficient, passive solar, off the grid house in the Riverland. The design of this house delivers full shading during the hotter months whilst allowing the warmth from the sun to pe*****te into the house during the colder months. A combination of double glazed windows, thermal mass concrete floors and internal feature brick walls, high levels of insulation and thoughtful zoning of the floor plan will deliver a naturally comfortable house. We have been working on a large house extension for a client just out of Loxton. We expect to finish this project in the next month or two. We completed the kitchen, pantry, living and dining spaces just before Christmas. The kitchen is a fantastic combination of different solid timber drawer/cupboard fronts and stone bench tops with a random pattern tiled splashback.
The skylight void above the kitchen island bench provides natural light into the centre of the home with electronically controlled internal block out blinds to totally close off the skylights on extreme hot days.

Well done to all the Hand Built team for finishing off a busy year. Here are some photos of a container swimming pool that has just been finished off today. It involved constructing retaining walls to a sloping site, installation of a steel support structure, then the installation of the pool, with the construction of the deck and pool safety fence to finish it off. The projecting pool looks fantastic and will look even better once landscaping has been completed around the perimeter.
