Recently I have come across some bathrooms that defy logic or explanation as to why someone would do what they have done. The first photo shows tiles glued to 1960's era asbestos Tilux sheeting. The sheeting itself is often held on with a few nails and easily and safely removed, unless it has 50kg of tiles stuck to it. Removing it and re sheeting may have cost an extra $300.
The second photo is of the floor under a poly marble shower base. A piece of treated pine board was used to fill the gap next to yellow tongue flooring. Both were loose, allowing movement.
If your budget can't extend an extra $500 there are much better ways to cut costs. If you're planning a bathroom reno and would like to do most of the work yourself, feel free to call me for advice. No charge. No obligation.
