Today I’m excited to announce a relaunch of my business and website Survival food plants.

I’ve been growing and eating these plants for 30 years and am impassioned to share what I’ve learned, and carry on a little propagating business to supply plants to the Maleny and near surrounds community.

Theses plants:
- Only need to be planted once and are super easy too grow
- Can save you ever having to buy salad or stir fry greens again.
- Have very few problems with bad weather or bugs
- Are highly nutritious and tasty

Follow the link below to learn about these incredible plants, quite a few of which I currently have for sale.

Very excited to share some photos of our food forest being developed from basically a bare patch of grass. Realistically it's going to take several years to get going, but we have beautiful soil, awesome sun exposure and thanks to installation of a bore, and amazing, clean, unlimited water supply. Watch this space!

Modern agriculture uses an array of chemicals to produce our fruit and vegetables. Fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides can all be used in the growing of the plants, and then fumigation, long term refrigeration and irradiation may be used for transport and delaying the ripening of the…

“The greatest change we need to make is from consumption to production, even if on a small scale, in our own gardens. If only 10% of us do this, there is enough for everyone. Hence the futility of revolutionaries who have no gardens, who depend on the very system they attack, and who produce words and bullets, not food and shelter.” ― Bill Mollison

It can be safely said that modern, industrial farming is one of the most destructive practices on the planet today both for the health of the people and the planet. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs), factory farming, the use of pesticides and excessive nitrogen-based fertilizers, agricultural su...

Tree spinach is a great summer staple. It's an attractive tree to about 2.5m and thrives in the hot & the wet.

The large glossy leaves can be picked young for salads, or full size as a quick cook spinach - add to stir fries & omelettes at the last minute. I also love them in smoothies

Tree spinach is amazingly nutritious too - high levels of protein makes it great for vegetarians, plus it's packed with vitamins, minerals & chlorophyll

When it gets cold it will die down, but come back strong the following warm season.

Well worth having a few dotted around your garden.

One of the best lettuce alternatives in the hotter & wetter months is Salad mallow (also known as Egyptian spinach). When it gets going, just one plant supplies enough greens for salads every night. Their leaves are tasty and highly nutritious and have the perfect texture for eating raw. Whilst it's an annual, it self seeds easily and so once you have it, it should resprout again every year

Definitely one of my favourites and awesome nutritionally.

Another plant I'm excited about eating soon is Malabar spinach - so hardy to the hot & wet and great greens for either salad, smoothies or stir fries. I especially like the growing tips in stir fries. Super nutritious too.

To keep this page fresh and interesting, I'm going to write about plants I'm excited about right now - the one's I'm putting in the garden as we speak, and hopefully have for sale in my shop.

Right now, I'm really excited about the prospects of eating Kang Kong soon. I think it's the most prolific, nutritious & tasty summer leaf vegetable I've got. I use leaves and stems daily when lots of other plants are struggling with the wet (and the heat)

Kang Kong is currently available at my shop - http://shop.survivalfoodplants.com/
