Another big day in the garden. Few more things to put in, but almost done getting all the beds rolling for spring.

Got one of our beds converted to a wicking bed with sub irrigation channels from . Staking tomatoes, refreshing and reporting some plants. Planted some bee attracting flowers around our beds for our native bees. Looking forward to watching the garden flourish during the warmer months. 🙂🌱🌿

So good to back in the garden and back in the swing of things here. Hope everyone has a great long weekend ahead and thinking of all you people who have to work it, that would rather be in the garden 💚🌱🌿.

We got into the garden after work today to get a lot of our spring and summer crop in; got the beds prepped, inputs, compost in. Still have our apple white cucumbers, beetroot, kale, and zucchini to plant this weekend.

Today, we planted 7 tomato varieties, 2 basil plants, sage, rocket, 2 eggplants, 5 yellow button squash, 6 butternut pumpkins, 12 long green cucumbers and some determinate potatoes (which may be a bit late, but giving it a go. Also chicken wired... given we live in the urban city, rats are an issue ).

We also harvested the last of our ginger, which we will use some to replant. 2.2kg of ginger harvested this year. We also harvested our eschallots and some of our spring onions leaving a quater of the bed to the remaining spring onions.

Tonight's dinner is some lettuce from the garden, some potatoes (yes, from the shops) and some grilled chicken.

Have a safe weekend! And happy gardening 🙂🌱🌿.

Cheers,

Dave & Bec

Hi All,

We have 12 orange Crucifix Orchids (Epidendrum radicans) to give away, if anyone is interested .

Pic on left is the plants currently. Pic on right is how they flower. Do well in pots, do not need to be reported often, prefer to be root bound or grown in trees Once established they will flower nearly year round.

Send me a message if interested. Pick up only, Mayfield NSW

I love the cusp of spring

Hey peeps,

We are getting excited about spring being around the corner. With some personal commitments this winter we have had a bit of a hiatus from gardening. But cleaning up today, getting rid of weeds and starting to plan for our spring and summer veg

This winter has been something and we have had some garden and damage to our deck due to the rains, so bring on some drier days.

One of my favourite plants starting to bloom this week. Long-Leaf Wax Flower, Philotheca myoporoides

Few blooms from around the garden recently.
