This Geraldton wax plant in my backyard (native to South-Western Australia) started growing buds in April this year. Before going on holiday in June, I was worried that I wouldn't witness it flowering while I was away. Finally, in late August, 5 months later, the first blossom opened.
I love not only the beauty of this plant, but also how it teaches me important values: patience, the power of anticipation, and finding joy in little things.
Besides that, the little blossoms are full of fragrance and nectar and attract a variety of pollinating insects, such as bees and butterflies.
And last but not least, it is a bush food plant: use the young, bright- green needle- shaped leaves to add a citrussy flavour to savoury or sweet dishes. It's very special! Enjoy.
