Just came across something interesting in the town planning space.

Plavate has introduced a new town planning technology application designed to help town planning consultants manage client enquiries, prepare preliminary town planning assessments, and generate Council-ready town planning submissions more efficiently.

What makes it interesting is that it brings enquiry management, town planning assessment and report preparation into one streamlined system. It also uses AI to assist with organising proposal information, drafting assessment text and structuring town planning submissions, while still leaving the final review and professional judgement with the town planner.

This could be a useful tool for town planning consultants who want to save time, reduce repetitive drafting and improve consistency in their reports.

Current issues and challenges facing town planning in Victoria

There are several issues and challenges facing town planning in Victoria currently. One of the major challenges is managing rapid population growth and urbanization, which has led to increased demand for housing, infrastructure, and services. This has put pressure on existing resources and created issues such as traffic congestion, overcrowding, and environmental degradation.

Another challenge is ensuring sustainable development. Town planning must balance economic growth with environmental and social sustainability, which can be difficult to achieve. There is also a need to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which requires innovative solutions and a long-term perspective.

Additionally, there are issues related to community engagement and participation in the planning process. It is important to involve stakeholders in decision-making and ensure that their needs and concerns are taken into account. This can be challenging, as there are often competing interests and limited resources available.

Overall, these issues and challenges require careful consideration and planning to ensure that Victoria continues to grow and develop in a sustainable and equitable manner.
