Par 3 House as featured on this week.
•
“When designing a new home for his parents (who were moving ‘into town’ after 50 years of farm life) architect Blair Smith had a few things to consider .
The house needed to accommodate ageing in place so his parents could live comfortably and in close proximity to their hobbies for many years to come.
Another key driver was the look of the house, which had to meet a stringent style guide in the new West Busselton estate, located about two and half hours south of Perth.
Not wanting to add another volume-built house to the block, Blair designed a fully bespoke home balancing his parent’s taste with the architectural vernacular of the area, and the proportions of its keystone-shaped block.
The project name, Par 3 House, is both a nod to a nearby golf course, and indicative of the house representing the ‘third chapter’ in Blair’s parent’s lives.”
