This is EXACTLY why the process matters!
Cynthia and Mike didn’t just “get a builder”.
They engaged early, and Early Engagement changes everything.
So what is Early Engagement? Well here's a quick snapshot of this specific clients process.
1. We talked before drawings were locked in. This can be as early as concepts.
Goals, lifestyle, budget, expectations, expected time in the home. This was all on the table from day one so there would be no surprises later. (We Hoped)
2. We build the right team first.
Designer, Engineer, documentation, consultants (Energy, soil, Interior deisgn).
Alignment was crucial and was driven by the clients goals, not the designers.
This brought clarity before creativity ran wild.
***Remember that most construction issues aren’t due to poor workmanship, they’re pre-site and planning problems.***
3. Reality checks.
What does a 3.6m ceiling actually feel like?
After standing in one of our recent builds showcasing a 3.3m space the answer was immediate:
“Too high.”
“I don’t want to be a widow because Mike had to change a lightbulb.”
That moment alone prevented an expensive decision driven purely by not quite understanding the drawings. This made all the difference and was a big "AHA" moment from our clients.
4. Refine the design. Refine the numbers.
On paper. Not on site.... that would have been expensive.
5. Then contracts, permits and build.
By this stage everything was selected, organised, documented and well understood by all.
When we got to site for this one, all we had to do was execute, not problem solve.
And the result?
A smooth construction process and a home that fits them.
This is only a brief look at how we operate, but it’s why we push Early Engagement so hard.
Thank you Cynthia and Mike for trusting the process.
Builds don’t go smoothly by accident. They’re structured that way from the beginning.
