When the forest gives us more than moss 🍄✨ Saffron milk caps (Lactarius deliciosus) aka pine mushrooms are in season and too good to pass up. I’ve picked up a lil bit and they’re available for pick up in South Melbourne or CBD delivery if anyone wants them.
🌲 Fun fact: Saffron milk caps are one of the few wild mushrooms that turn blue-green when cut or bruised but don’t let that put you off. Prized across Spain, Russia and much of Europe for centuries, they deliver a rich, nutty, slightly peppery flavour in the pan that’s incredible simply sautéed in butter with garlic.
