Autumn Magic in the Garden 🍂

As the days grow cooler and the light softens, the garden begins to glow with the rich colours of autumn. Golden yellows, deep reds, and rusty oranges take centre stage, transforming trees, shrubs, and even groundcovers into a breathtaking display.

🍂 Don’t Bag Those Leaves – Compost Them! 🌱

Autumn leaves are gold for your garden – literally! Instead of sending them off to landfill, why not compost them?

Here’s why composting your leaves is a great idea:

✅ Free mulch – Shredded leaves break down into rich, crumbly compost that improves soil structure and retains moisture.
✅ Reduces waste – Keeps organic matter out of landfill, reducing methane emissions.
✅ Feeds your garden – Leaf compost is packed with nutrients that plants love.

How to compost leaves:
1. Shred them if you can – Smaller pieces break down faster.
2. Layer them – Mix leaves with green waste (like grass clippings or veggie scraps) for a balanced compost.
3. Keep it moist – Like a wrung-out sponge, not too wet or dry.
4. Turn regularly – Aerating the pile speeds up decomposition.

🍁 Tip: Oak and maple leaves compost well. Avoid thick, waxy leaves like laurel unless shredded.

Whether you’re building a compost bin or just starting a leaf pile in a quiet corner of your yard, your garden (and the planet) will thank you. 🌍🌿
