Stubborn and incessant rain is seeing flush of winter weeds, in this lawn, wintergrass and a touch of ryegrass.
If you haven’t done it already, a well timed preemergent herbicide will put a stop to the germination process. Some preemergents even have a little bit of post activity, which will be needed in this instance.
To put a stop to these cheeky weeds, give us a call!

With the recent rain events, time to get pre-emergents out! We have all the letters in stock, each have their benefits and shortcomings.
Just don’t get this guy to apply your chemistries - this is called a miss. This bloke came down in the last shower, when you have been doing it for two decades, we certainly did not!

Nice little before and after. Lawn was a veritable jungle - client wants to sell and needs some love to the lawn.
Sir Walter Buffalo laid, soil amended with organics and dolomitic lime. Pre-emergents soon to follow.

You may have read a ‘Tale of two cities’, well here is a ‘Tale of two Lawns’. One is managed by us - qualified greenkeepers who have been doing this for quite some time.
The other, by the local fly by nighters who came down in the last shower and charged a kings ransom!
Oftentimes, qualified help is cheaper than the unqualified variety. If you seek something more out of your lawn, give us a call.

Grass looking a bit blue? Has it lost its elasticity after compression? Forgot the last time it rained?
It may be autumn but the photo period is still long! Blue grass means it’s wilting - get a splash of water to it immediately!
Essentially, the grass is losing more water out of the leaf when it opens its stomata pores to exchange O/CO2. To prevent death, it closes the pores. It then builds up O in the leaf, without any CO2 to replace it!
To put it in layman’s terms, throw some water on the turf immediately to take it out of ICU and put it in recovery.
Grasses can come out of ICU, but they can’t come out of the morgue!

Not only is this a dry patch - what is interesting is the couch grass in this patch of bent is happy as a clam!
While we see little couch, what lies beneath is troubling. The rhizomes are literally taking moisture ahead of the bent!
Killing weeds is one thing, but taking one grass out of another is something different! With two decades experience and letters after our name, if you need technical help, give Ambience Lawns a call!

Lawn army worm damage to kikuyu lawn. We said it time and time again - this droughty summer will be the summer of insect damage.
What is interesting is the little bludgers didn’t find the Buffalo palatable. Happily the early autumn heat wave will help this lawn recover.
This will be hit with the latest generation insecticide. We don’t source our stock from Bunnings like our competition - we use the same products the top tier turf facilities in Sydney rely on.
Oftentimes, qualified help is cheaper than the unqualified type. If your lawn is falling over, give us a call.

Couch s**t (Ustilago cynadotis). This disease is more virulent on barley and wheat - but it destroys the seed head making it impotent. Unless you are growing couch grass and collecting the seed for sale - no fungicide is recommended.

Queensland blue couch. Such a fashionable grass 30 years ago - waste of space now! So many enviable varieties to choose from. First grass to suffer drought stress and so intolerant to many herbicides, when it’s good it’s good - when it’s bad you wish you never sowed it!
