Citicene - Designing L’oréal’s Queensland distribution centre to blend sustainability with functionality.
L’Oréal has set ambitious, measurable targets for climate, water, biodiversity, and natural resources as part of their “L’Oréal for the Future” program, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality, reduce water consumption, and minimize environmental impact by 2030.
Goodman developed L’Oréal’s first Queensland purpose-built distribution centre at Redbank Estate, providing a state-of-the-art facility in Brisbane to support the company’s growth and meet customer demand.
The landscape design seamlessly integrates with the architectural character of the distribution centre, enhancing the facility’s functionality while fostering biodiversity and environmental harmony.
A network of inviting outdoor spaces encourages engagement with the natural surroundings. Recycled timber sleepers are repurposed as bespoke bench seating and landscape features, while decomposed granite surfaces, corten steel edging, and vegetable planters introduce a raw, organic materiality that aligns with L’Oréal’s sustainability ethos.
