🏠 Pergola timber maintenance is more important than most people realise.
One of the most commonly missed areas during exterior painting projects is the *top side* of pergola timbers and beams.
From ground level, these sections are often out of sight — but they are constantly exposed to harsh UV, rain, moisture build up, leaf debris, and temperature changes ☀️🌧️
If left uncoated or poorly maintained, the upper surfaces can begin to absorb moisture, leading to:
• Peeling paint
• Timber swelling
• Cracking & splitting
• Rot development
• Premature coating failure
During this project, scaffolding access allowed us to properly prepare and coat the upper sections of the pergola structure — not just the visible faces from below.
A proper exterior paint system should protect the entire timber surface, including the areas homeowners rarely see 👌
Quality prep and full coverage always make the difference.
