🌾 The Dangers of Ragwort and How to Control It 🌾
Ragwort may look like just another wildflower, but it poses a serious threat to pastures, livestock, and your property!

🚨 Why is ragwort dangerous?
• Toxic to Livestock: Ragwort contains harmful toxins that can cause liver damage in animals like horses, cattle, and sheep if ingested.
• Highly Invasive: Ragwort spreads rapidly, overtaking pastures, gardens, and native plants.
• Persistent Seeds: One plant can produce thousands of seeds that remain viable for up to 20 years!

🌱 How to Identify Ragwort
• Bright yellow flowers in dense clusters (blooms in late spring to summer).
• Tall stems with jagged leaves that have a distinct odor when crushed.

🛠️ How to Control Ragwort
• Pull it Early: Wear gloves and remove plants before flowering to prevent seeding.
• Cut or Mow with Care: Regular mowing can weaken plants, but timing is key—don’t let it flower and spread seeds.
• Herbicide Treatment: Use targeted herbicides for larger infestations, following local guidelines to protect nearby plants and waterways.
• Dispose Safely: Not suitable for composting or your greenwaste bin, it's best to bag and bin in general waste.
