Have you seen these w**ds?
If so, contact councils invasive w**d team to report it.

Alligator w**d (Alternanthera philoxeroides) and Chinese violet (Asystasia gangetica subspecies micrantha) are both invasive w**ds and listed as "priority w**ds" in Port Stephens.

Alligator w**d is listed as a w**d of National Significance and Chinese violet is on the National Environmental Alert List.
Land owners are obligated by law to control these w**ds.
Please do not attempt to manually remove Alligator w**d as it spreads by cuttings.
It is an aquatic w**d and requires specialised treatment that only trained professionals can provide.

Winter grass (Poa annua) is beginning to germinate.
It is an annual winter w**d (technically a grass) that can be very invasive during the cooler months but can also grow sporadically at other times of the year with the right conditions.
