His passion for the profession, coupled with his extensive knowledge of horticulture, construction and design, helps create vibrant urban spaces for the community.

Proud to celebrate the Rathmines Youth Hub and Playground winning the 2025 Lake Macquarie City Council Engineering Excellence Award.

Designed with community, connection, and creativity in mind, the revitalised space features a nature play area, bike track, climbing frame and upgraded facilities. It’s been incredible to see how the local community had embraced and enjoyed the space.

Terras is proud to be working with the Port Macquarie Ocean Pool Committee on the design development of this long-anticipated project, following initial concepts by Nicole Larkin. With years of community advocacy since 1970, the vision of an ocean pool at Oxley Beach is a crucial step toward enhancing the local coastline.

Building on the success of our Newcastle Ocean Baths renovation and the Bogey Hole restoration, Terras’ proposed design addresses key site constrains to support the projects future development and advocacy efforts.

LOCHINVAR RIDGE ESTATE / URBAN LAND HOUSING

Terras were involved with the design, landscape vision and ex*****on of the Lochinvar Ridge Estate Masterplan, including the entry themes of local wildlife in laser cut corten steel.

We have continued to be involved in the subsequent stages, including a future playground. We are excited to see this Maitland City Council endorsed housing estate come to life in the beautiful landscape of Lochinvar and to be involved in its development.

KARUAH PUBLIC SCHOOL / SCHOOLS INFRASTRUCTURE NSW

We were fortunate to attend the official opening of Karuah Public School. The opening was a beautiful celebration and reconciliation event.

The project began as a listening exercise guided by the leadership of Karuah Public School and Worimi Elders.

The design that resulted from this collaboration was simple. Remove the fences, open the front of the school to the street and showcase the school as a safe meeting place. This led to the incorporation of yarning circles for stories and listening while waiting to pick up children or waiting to meet staff. The design resulted in a colourful space recognising the importance of the land, native vegetation and most importantly the Karuah River with pathways flowing into the school in a positive show of connection.

Design elements in the entry were incorporated to allow for storytelling about the school’s history.

The decorative gates showcase the bilingual approach to language taught in the school with the inclusion of language, Nyiirunba ngarralbaa (our learning place).

TERRAS’ STUDY TOUR / SOCIAL & LEARNING

Terras took the opportunity at the end of this year to have a walk around Newcastle to some key, completed Terras projects and talk through the successes and learnings of each.

It’s so important to get out in the field and reconnect with spaces we’ve designed to improve and grow as people, designers and a team. Newcastle put on a show with the beautiful weather which made the day all the more enjoyable.

It was super rewarding to see how the Newcastle community has embraced some of Terras’ key projects and we look forward to growing and learning from each of them more and more as the Newcastle community evolves every day.
