I snapped these pics of an unknown shrub the other day, and was thinking it was related to a Daphne due to its sweet scent.

Upon further investigation, I believe it to be Acokanthera oblongifolia or Bushman’s Poison.

A native of South Africa, it is a medium size shrub with very fragrant flowers, olive like fruit and milky sap.

All parts of the plant are highly toxic to humans and animals. I didn’t know this when I cut some flowers for the house…

Also, apparently it’s highly invasive, so I don’t recommend planting it.
