If you cried today because you haven’t slept in days, weeks, months.

If you cried today because you don’t remember who you are anymore.

If you cried today because you fought with your partner over something silly because you’re tired, just so so tired.

If you cried today because you looked in the mirror and you didn’t like what you saw - even though you’re so grateful for the baby in your arms.

If you cried today because motherhood is a shock you know, and you’re trying, you’re really trying, but you feel like you have no idea what you’re doing.

If you cried today because you’re lonely, even though you’re never alone. And how is that possible?

If you cried today because you miss who you were, miss your old life.

Then this post is for you.
You’re not alone.
You’re not the only one feeling like this.

And tomorrow is another day ❤️

✖️I could go on and on, these are just a few of the ones that caused me so much stress and anxiety when my children were little.

If I could go back and tell myself anything it would be this..

“You will never spoil your babies, bad habits don’t exist, long lunch time naps are NOT everything and 2hr naps are not as common as books make us believe, many babies cannot link sleep cycles without some support, 7pm isn’t the perfect bedtime, nor is the 7am-7pm routine, and most babies are not sleeping through the night at 6 months!”

➡️What do you wish you could go back and tell yourself when you first became a mama?

☀️Here are the most important things we want you to know about sleep in your baby’s first month, along with out top tips.
➡️Save this one for later!

The first few weeks of parenthood are exhausting.
Physically, mentally and emotionally. Here are our best tips to help you and your newborn through the first month.

☀️The most important thing to know is for right now, and for the next few months, having a flexible daily rhythm is key, rather than using a schedule.
Scheduling can create a lot of unnecessary stress for both you and your baby (said from personal experience🫠)

👶🏼Newborn babies in the first 6 weeks might look like this (variations are expected as every child is unique)
Total 24hr Sleep= 16 - 18hours
Nap totals= naps can vary from 30mins - 2.5hours
Night sleep= your baby may wake every 2-3hours to feed. You may get one longer stretch of up to 4hours

☀️Awake windows were a game changer for me. Having a guideline on how long your baby can stay awake based on the age helps you identify tired signs. Putting your baby to sleep when they are tired is much easier than trying to settle an under-tired or an over-tired baby. During the first 4 weeks your baby can typically stay awake for between 60-70 minutes.

☀️Swaddling your baby helps to recreate that snug feeling they had when they were inside your womb. We suggest swaddling your baby for naps and night time sleep.

☀️Implementing a wind down routine before naps and bedtime is also another key element for establishing healthy sleep foundations. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just a few predictable steps done consistently before sleep times.
