The aim of this home was to capture light and natural ventilation, a sustainable design technique that effortlessly creates a comfortable home year-round. The exterior features a strong, textural statement using a unique hit and miss brick pattern, which introduces subtle ventilation and reduces solar gain—a clever privacy screen from the street.
The open-plan interior is bathed in abundant natural light thanks to large, strategically placed windows that optimize daylighting and facilitate cross-breezes, minimizing the need for mechanical cooling and contributing significantly to energy efficiency. A key feature is the picture window strategically framing an outdoor tree as a focal point, seamlessly merging the living space with the natural surroundings.
The use of internal feature brickwork not only adds a rich, grounded texture but also contributes valuable thermal mass, aiding in passive temperature regulation. The layout ensures a fluid transition between zones, enhancing the home's airy, fresh feel. Every element of this home emphasizes quality materials and a deep connection to its environment, resulting in a truly comfortable, high-performing residence committed to enduring sustainable living.
