Aaron Smith is a Melbourne-based Locksmith who, over the past 10 years, has specialised in safes, antique locks and teaching traditional locksmithing skills. Aaron’s objective is to preserve the traditional skills of his trade, promote repair and restoration of locks, padlocks and safes. Emphasis is placed on using craft skills, traditional methods, highest standards and respecting the history of these everyday items.

Beautiful handmade hinges and crab lock. What a privilege to work on such a unique piece.

A lot of repair work on this Russell and Erwin rim lock. All need springs and a rebuilt key way after it had been rusted out.

But working now and should be good for another 100 years or so.

Hand filed and cut keys are a rewarding endeavour. I love the idea that these keys could continue to work a lock that is already 150 years old and could still be working in another 100 years.

I love to say that I offer a lifetime warranty and one that I hope I can doing long into the future.
