This week I harvested my first ever potatoes from two grow bags. From eight seed potatoes, I harvested 45 large enough to eat and about 10 small ones that I'm going to replant for a second harvest.

My golden shallots are also ready for storing after having dried for a couple of weeks. This is the largest harvest I have had in four seasons of growing shallots. The trick is to plant shallots on or around the shortest day of the year (winter solstice), and harvest on or around the longest day of the year (summer solstice).
