The classic chef knife is the one you reach for first.

A big part of making knives for cooking is how they feel in your hand - I’m after a feeling that it belongs, not something you need to wrestle with, after all cooking should be something you enjoy ( if you love food that is ) and if I’m honest I’m not a huge knife nerd , I care less about the technical details of knives and care more about how it feels to use.

The inspiration behind the classic slicer - a thick rib eye cooked over fire. It just wouldn’t be right to slice this up...

The inspiration behind the classic slicer - a thick rib eye cooked over fire. It just wouldn’t be right to slice this up with a soulless mass produced off the shelf kitchen knife , there’s just something about the solid weighty feel of a hand made for purpose knife that makes the experience so much better, obviously it’s one of those things that if you know , you know and I’m also biased, but still it just feels right.

For the month of June you can get the stainless slicer with a free paring knife to go with it - perfect for peeling the potatoes to go with the steak.

The new classic slicer sure has been popular lately ( definitely the most gifted knife we send out - usually given to blokes who love meat and beer - I got you 👌)

It’s also probably 50/50 in terms of carbon vs Stainless that get purchased - I use the carbon steel one at home , not that its anything to go by any means, it’s just the one I have at home.

Obviously you can use it for anything in the kitchen, so it’s not exclusively a meat slicing machine - particularly if your choosing between the chef knife and the slicer - it’s great if you want a bigger all rounder- bigger is better right?

The main reason I love it is that it’s so satisfying to slice through a big grilled steak with a solid laser sharp knife in the anticipation of eating it ( I’ll be honest - sometimes the steak does not make it to the plate)

We’ve had a run on these two the last couple of weeks- it’s the Chefs Edit / classic Chef and the Bunka.

Made to live together in the kitchen - currently saves between $140 and $210 on the individual knives ( no wonder it’s popular)
Each comes in their own premium leather sheath, so that’s nice.

I’m running a little behind at the moment - we just added stainless steel versions of a few of our knives to the website...

I’m running a little behind at the moment - we just added stainless steel versions of a few of our knives to the website and I thought it would be a good idea to do a deal where if you buy the stainless steel slicer you get a free stainless paring knife to go with it, turns out folks liked that idea a lot - so if your waiting on your knife don’t worry I’m working on it and we have loads more AEB-L stainless on its way from Sweden so we’ll probably run that deal for a while longer. BTW if you sign up for the newsletter on our website you’ll get notified first of couple more things we have in the works.

It’s fitting when you have a new knife to try it out on your favourite meal - for .y_8 that has to okonomiyaki.

Thinly sliced pork belly, shredded cabbage , potato starch pancake batter , prawns and ginger smothered in a Smokey umami rich sauce topped with bonito flakes and homemade mayo.
