Layering Luxury in our Sydney project. The Art of Space Planning with an Open Kitchen & Dining Table
In high-end interiors, the heart of the home isn’t just the kitchen — it’s the seamless flow between cooking, dining, and entertaining. Enter the open island with integrated dining: a perfect example of functional luxury.
Space Planning Matters:
The key to effortless luxury is spatial harmony. Start by defining zones — the island anchors the kitchen, while the dining table becomes an elegant bridge to the living area. Consider circulation space, views, and how the area will function day-to-night.
Layering in Design:
Think beyond function. Layer rich textures like Dark wood, honed marble, brushed brass, and plush bar stools, dining chairs. Add ambient lighting — a sculptural pendant over the island, subtle LED under the island — to set the mood and highlight materials.
A Cohesive Palette:
Choose a refined colour scheme — think ivory, stone, warm taupe, and soft metallics. This ties the cooking and dining zones together, making the space feel expansive and connected.
The Finishing Touches:
Layer in personality with curated tableware, organic marble shape, a dramatic floral statement candle holder on the dining table.
Design Tip: When integrating a dining table into your island, play with levels or materials to visually distinguish the two functions while keeping them connected.
