It’s been a minute since I’ve been out on this project, but the progress has been absolutely unreal!

Over the past few days we’ve smashed out some huge milestones!
From installing all the new windows and doors, to getting the plywood bracing sorted, and even knocking out half of the existing walls. We wrapped up the weekend by lifting in this massive 3000x1500 window, which has completely transformed the space.

We didn’t stop there. We pulled down the old bathroom ceiling and reframed it into a stunning cathedral ceiling, complete with 140x45 pre-primed collar ties.
These bad boys are soon going to be fitted with RBG strip lighting, shining straight up and highlighting that beautiful ceiling line.

This job just gets more exciting by the day. Can’t wait to see it all come together! 🙌✨

Got to do a lovely little side quest over the past few weeks for some great friends ❤️

They came to me with an idea for their wedding arbour and a couple of bars, and asked if I could bring it to life. For two people celebrating their love and commitment to each other, there was no way I could say no.

Everything came together perfectly — the pieces, the setting, and most importantly, the day itself.

To Mrs & Mrs Webb, thank you for trusting me to create something special for such an incredible moment in your lives. It was an absolute honour to be a small part of your big day 🥂✨

Something a little different from the usual carpentry work, today was a roof restoration. Safe to say it didn’t go completely to plan… halfway through, the spray gun nozzle came loose and gave me an accidental paint job across 80% of my face!

We powered through though, laying down 2 coats of primer followed by 3 coats of Night Sky Black, all in the one day. The result? A fresh, clean finish that really gave this house a new lease on life.

I’ve got to say, this $500 airless spray gun has been one of the best investments yet – fast, efficient, and delivers a professional result every time.

Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend as much as we did! 👷‍♂️☀️

We spent ours back on this extension project, pushing hard to get everything prepped and ready for the roof sheets to be ordered. We didn’t quite tick off every single task, but we gave it a red hot crack and made some awesome progress along the way.

Day 1:
We stripped back the existing roof, worked out all our wall frame heights, set out window and door openings, marked our stud locations, and got a few frames built and stood up.

Day 2:
We installed the ridge beam, set out our rafter locations, finished off the rest of the wall framing, and cut and checked our rafter templates for a perfect fit.

Day 3:
All rafters went up, top plates straightened, and every measurement double-checked so we could lock in our roof sheet order.

It was a big weekend on the tools, with great weather, good company, and plenty of progress made. Can’t wait to rip back into this one in a few weeks and see it start taking shape!

TRANSFORMATION SATURDAY 🔨🚪

This new front door has completely brought the entryway back to life!

The previous setup was a bit of a mess, The sidelights were installed tight against the door jamb with no reveals, just packed out with random trims that made everything look bulky and unfinished.

To tidy it all up, I replaced the standard 12mm H3 pre-primed jambs with some 35mm thick ones, allowing me to fit a roller latch and lock kit properly without blowing out into the sidelights.

I also trimmed up custom door sills to fully cover the brickwork, and she came up a treat! 🔥

TEAM NO DAYS OFF – BACK AT IT AGAIN! 🔨🏡

A productive weekend on site with great progress made.

We brought the floor frames to the NXT LVL. We checked and re-checked to ensure everything was perfectly square, and then cut back the joist overhangs to give us a clean, straight line to start from.

This precision at the early stages sets the foundation for the entire build and makes the setout of bottom plates efficient, accurate, and stress-free.

With the yellow tongue flooring in place, we’re set up perfectly for the next stage.

Our focus for the upcoming October long weekend: complete the external wall frames, pitch the roof and get some measurements to order the roofing materials!

Step by step, detail by detail — this extension is coming together exactly as planned.
