Seniors lunch today was a hoot and so delicious! Those porcupine meatballs brought back so many childhood memories. Had a big lot of people through today and all left with full tummies. Lol.
On a funny side note, I might need an incident report book because today I nearly came close to a “near-death” experience!😆🤭
I took Tammy’s serving spoon away from her spot because I thought she’d finished with it and she wasn’t! Bahahaha…. Got in trouble big time! 🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢 close call but I gave it back to her pretty quick! 😆

Hold onto your horses, we have some exciting news...........
We're excited to announce that The Post & Rail will be hosting a Pizza Night once a fortnight, beginning Friday 3rd July.

For some of you, this might feel a little familiar.

Many years ago, when we owned our café, restaurant and farm shop in Apsley called Amber Ridge and our pizza nights became one of the things we were best known for. They were always filled with great food, plenty of laughter and a wonderful atmosphere, and looking back, some of our favourite memories were made around those tables.

As we've settled into life at The Post & Rail, we've spent a lot of time thinking about what we love most and where we'd like to grow.

We keep coming back to the same answer.

We love bringing people together.

Not just for a meal, but for an experience. A table filled with handmade food, conversations that stretch long after the plates are empty, a glass of wine in hand and the warmth of being surrounded by good company.

This beautiful old building seems made for evenings like that.

The soaring ceilings, the heritage stone walls and the vintage character create the kind of atmosphere that simply can't be manufactured.

So we're stepping back into something we know we do well and thoroughly enjoy!

All-you-can-eat sourdough pizzas made from scratch, shared around the table, accompanied by hot chips, garlic bread, salad, dessert pizzas, local wine and plenty of hospitality.

For us, it feels a little like coming home.

Join us for a beautiful hands-on Italian cooking experience where we'll create:

• Herb-veneered smoked salmon ravioli with a creamy lemon sauce – elegant, indulgent and the sort of dish I'd proudly serve if Maggie Beer dropped in for lunch.

• Vibrant beetroot tagliatelle with Meredith goats cheese and toasted walnuts – naturally coloured, full of flavour and absolutely stunning on the plate.

• Pear and blue cheese risotto – rich, silky and cooked to that perfect all’onda texture Italians are famous for.

• Cinnamon and apple arancini with warm butterscotch sauce – my own sweet twist on a classic, crisp on the outside and irresistibly soft within.

This class is for the true food lovers. Those who appreciate beautiful ingredients, great technique and the joy of gathering around a table filled with something special.

Oh my heart! Seniors day today. We estimate feeding around 100 lovely people today. Full props to Amelia and Tammy who kept this well oiled machine running, pumping out the meals and drinks. There’s something about feeding people comfort food and then the puddings, with cream and ice cream. I even made the custard from scratch for the apple and rhubarb crumble cake. Sorry no pictures of the food as the only time I had to take photos was afterwards. lol. Woohoo! Thank you to those that came today. Xx Cindy

Sunday mornings were made for slow breakfasts, hot coffee and lingering a little longer around the table.

There’s something pretty special about cutting into a proper Eggs Benedict made the old fashioned way — local free range eggs with golden yolks, leg ham or smoked salmon, toasted focaccia and silky house made hollandaise cascading over the top.

Or maybe you’re an avocado-on-toast person… and honestly, ours ticks all the boxes.

Creamy smashed avocado, salty smooth fetta, perfectly poached eggs, the crunch of toasted seeds, the tang of our house made pickled red onion and finally that little drizzle of sweet sharp pomegranate molasses that brings the whole thing to life.

Rustic, generous, handmade breakfasts in our old stone building… exactly how Sundays should feel.
