New Birdseye Jarrah and Canadian Maple box. External dimensions 17cm x 16cm x 12.3cm.

The ‘birdseye’ comes from the pattern of the grain which resemble tiny swirling eyes. ( I have included at the back of the box a normal piece of Jarrah with typical grain).
The ‘birdseye’ are actually tiny dormant buds that the tree has attempted to grow but stopped. I have only seen it in Jarrah but researching into it, Jarrah isn’t the only species.

Completed Sheoak jewellery box with Canadian Maple splines, tray dividers and internal sides.
External size of box is 30cm x 20cm x 11cm.

This took me a bit longer than usual as I kept changing my mind with the design. I have also included a photo of an error that I made when doing the internal maple. Should have worn my glasses when setting saw measurement. Wound up being 5mm short 🤬.

Box will be part of products for Perth Upmarket at UWA on Sunday 21st June 10am to 3.30pm.

Some Jarrah boards completed.
The largest board doesn’t have a juice groove in it as I recently made one with a juice groove in it. Some people like having it and some people don’t. Easily added in though if required.
You can see how much Jarrah varies in colour.

New batch of coasters for Mothers Day. Timber used is European White Ash.
Size of coasters approx 10cm x 10cm.
Overall it took 6 hours to make these but it was over 5 days due to the process involved.

Finally finished Jarrah Burl coffee table. The Burl was purchased from a retiring woodworker a few years back and thought about time I did something with it.
The removal of the bark took several days with screwdriver, wire brush, air compressor and a few bloodied knuckles.
I have included a photo of tape measures to show where I got the measurements from due to its irregular shape. 87cm x 77cm x 44.5cm high.
With Jarrah Burls, each one is unique and they are becoming harder to find.
This piece will be part of the Armadale Hills Arts Trail in November but if you are interested in it beforehand, feel free to message.

First coat of board oil put on new jarrah board. Size of piece 42.5cm x 36cm x 4cm.
The look of the piece is almost too good to be used as a board.
The piece is a cut off from a jarrah/Marri coffee table that I am currently working on and part of the Hills Arts Trail in November.

This is a project that I have been working on in between jobs over the last few months.
Jarrah Burl coffee table with recycled jarrah beam base and finally completed first dry fitting.

Reason for difference in colour between base and top, is that base is fully completed but top still needs further sanding and needs to have hardwax oil added to finish it. Hopefully a few more weeks.

And yes it is heavy
