Variegation in Nepenthes is rare, and sometimes it is present but not always particularly noticeable.
I’ve been watching this one since it hatched and I’ve got high hopes, displaying a rainbow of colours in both leaves and pitchers, plus it’s very vigorous

It’s interesting to see how the genetics from different species blend together when Nepenthes are hybridised.
This is N.(Veitchii x Burbidgeae) x (Maxima x Edwardsiana) RR, and the parents are all represented in small ways to create something unique, it can sometimes create a growth habit that is a desirable too, In this case the quick climbing ( maxima x Edwardsiana) is kept in check by the ( Veitchii x Burbidgeae) to give a plant that has some size early, but not stretching too much that it’s a hassle to move.
Should be a good trait for future breeding for the retail market.

What an incredible beast of Nepenthes.
Exotica Plants’ N.(Lowii x Veitchii-red x Edwardsiana has some wild colour and texture, and it’s big!

Update on some of the outdoor Nepenthes, starting with the incredible EP hybrid N.Truncata x Edwardsiana, geez, this plant has some staying power, still holding pitchers it grew in the spring, the basal shoot is growing well and will probably take over the job of pitcher production because…the original vine is in flower!
Ventricosa x Aristolocioides is having another flush of new pitchers-probably due to the cooler weather.
xTiveyi is holding a couple nice traps while flowering, and producing new basals also.
All in all, they are loving this extended warm weather we are experiencing, just like us.

Just dropped a bunch of plants to Bunnings the last couple days.
Nepenthes maxima and Sanguinea in 140 mm pots. Venus flytraps.
Pots of live Sphagnum moss.
Sundews, bromeliads and Amazon lilies.
Stores stocked: Midlland, Belmont, Bayswater, Wangarra, Balcatta, Mirrabooka, Joondalup, Mindarie, Innaloo, Cannington, Melville, Armadale, Rockingham, Mandurah, Halls Head.

Someone asked how this N.[(Boschiana x Fusca) x Veitchii Bario] x {[(Lowii x Veitchii) x Tiveyi] x (Platychila x Rajah)} would colour up… I’ll let the photo explain, this much in little over a week.

Would the real Veitchii please stand up…
Yesterday’s post may have been a Veitchii imposter, but this one certainly isn’t, Exotica Plants N.Veitchii bario is everything you want, and it’s a female!
And finally I have at least a bario male in flower too.
Wish me luck as I go all in with the goal of creating Veitchii seed in-house.
Quick question… if you purchased one of the RedRock Veitchii‘tissue culture’ plants, are you disappointed with what you received ?
I did warn it was an unverifiable tissue culture plant, and of course I would not label it as Veitchii if I get it again, but overall, what’s your thoughts on it ?
