The Capecare murals are up! ๐จ
We are thrilled to see Capecare Dunsborough site progress, with artwork by Australian mural artist kyle Hughes-Odgers creating a striking feature on the apartment building walls. Kyleโs work is inspired by small coastal plants and rocks giving it a modern twist in his signature style.
The 18m high pops of colour will provide a fantastic opportunity to lighten peopleโs spirits, encourage interactions and create conversations.
Keep an eye out as we unveil the next stage of completion including the front entry mural!

Gary Batt & Associates Architects (GBA), only work on Aged Care projects.
Specialising in one field of Architecture has allowed Gary Batt & Associates to build vast experience across all facets of aged care including aged care facilities, retirement living, dementia specific accommodation and medical facilities.
Our ongoing professional development, including attendance at conferences and workshops, enables us to be at the forefront of local, national and international trends. For instance our Principal, Gary Batt, attended the Environment For Ageing conference in the USA in 2017 which included a master class in dementia design.
We believe there is no one solution for all projects.
A successful outcome can only be achieved by understanding our clientsโ brand, culture, where our client see themselves in the market now and where they want to be in 10 years time.
Fundamental to achieving a successful project is communication of briefing requirements and ideas through a thorough consultative process.
GBA recognises that there is a fine balance between requirements for operational efficiencies and what benefits the residents โ these often conflict. At GBA our method is to spend the necessary time consulting with management and staff members throughout the process, in particular during the initial design and subsequent detailed design stages to understand and achieve the right balance.
Including the key stakeholders and allowing constructive collaboration with relevant staff members, provides a sense of contribution and therefore ownership and pride in the facility. Working together presents an opportunity to expand upon our collective knowledge and experience and to integrate this into, what we believe to be, the worldโs best aged care practices.
We understand and respect the importance of Evidence Based Design. We are the only architectural firm in Western Australia which employs a clinician and researcher, Samantha Neylon.
There are many theories on best practice for Aged Care and many more in Dementia Design and clinical practices. The importance of Evidence Based Design is understood and respected by GBA. We draw upon current best clinical practice and research to ensure this knowledge is effectively translated into recommendations which are enabling for older people and those living with dementia.
