Outdoor bath update at my short stay in Preston Beach, 90 minutes south of Perth. The taps went in today.
And some table styling with Fiona from Fi | Perth Catering/Private Dining/Food Experiences and a lot of photos; it was time for a w**e.
I’m so excited to be teaming up with Vineyard 28. Their Wildwater Sparkling Pignoletto and Jasper Rosé will be poured on launch day for Women in Business, Friday 20 November.

On Friday 20 November I’m opening the doors at Preston for one day, so you can come and see The Preston Creative for yourself.

So, when did you last actually get away to work on your business? Not at the dining table, getting pulled away every five minutes. Actually away.

Imagine two whole nights at Preston with two of your business besties. Nobody needing you. Meals from Studio Eat already in the fridge. The whole house and garden set up for you to plan, create and film. The content room, the light, the garden, even the outdoor bath. Just you, your ideas, and the time to finally do them.

Oh my goodness, and the work you’d get done.

I know, because I built this for me first. Fiona and I are business mums and wives trying to do it all, and when we get away down here, that’s where our best ideas happen. Every single time. So we made it into something you can have too.

Airbnb hosts, have you checked your house rules yet?

So Airbnb’s new house rules policy takes effect on 20 November. Guests shouldn’t be asked to remove sheets from the bed or start a load of washing, and I totally agree. As a guest it really annoys me. That’s what the cleaning fee is for.

The dishes are the big one. But it doesn’t say you can’t ask guests to load the dishwasher and press start. That’s what I ask, and I’m happy to put them away. As a guest I always check the dishes, so I’d rather unload them myself and know every plate and fork is clean.

With tight changeovers, could a full sink of dishes mean no same-day turnover? I can see why some hosts are angry.

When I checked mine, Airbnb flagged one line. We’re on a septic tank at Preston, so I’d asked guests to wipe food and oil off plates first. I changed it to “please avoid putting oil and food down the drains,” and that was it.

What did Airbnb flag in yours, or what’s making you really angry? I’d love to know.

Airbnb hosts, if there’s nowhere to get a decent meal near your short stay, this is for you.
Guests at mine can now pre-order from a caterer when they book. She delivers and it’s all waiting in the fridge when they arrive. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, a charcuterie board and something sweet.

Save this if your town has the same problem.

So I’ve wanted an outdoor bath at my short-term rental since the day we got this house. It’s finally here - well almost.

No water, no plumbing, no privacy screens and no actual ch*****ne, because I’m on a detox😵‍💫
But I can already see it. Guests soaking under the trees after a day at the beach, or even better, a night-time soak under the stars, listening to the ocean.

It’s the next little thing I’m adding to make my holiday rental feel even more like a getaway.

Jane and I came down to Preston Beach for three nights to work on our businesses. Zoom calls, coaching calls, content creation, helping each other out. We’re both driving home feeling like we actually got somewhere.
Leaving home to work on your business can feel a bit selfish. Mum guilt is so real. But sometimes the support you need is just a few nights away from the distractions.

But comfort is built in the invisible work.
