We had an awesome time out on the road travelling to Port Hedland & Kalbarri , servicing our clients with new bores .
And of course, we couldn’t do it without Mackie, our legendary office dog 🐶
Official titles: Head of Morale, Site Supervisor (when snacks are involved), and Regional Tail-Wagger.
He’s been busy overseeing operations, boosting team spirit, and reminding us all to take breaks (and belly rubs) seriously.
Mackie particularly loved the beach walks and the new found waggily tailed friends he made !
There’s something truly special about WA’s remote gems that sets the heart aglow . 🌾
Kalbarri stuns with its dramatic coastal cliffs, ancient gorges, and sunsets that set the Murchison River aglow. A place where nature paints the sky every evening.
Viewing this spectacle perched on a beautiful property overlooking the ocean and cliffs while drilling a bore for the owners , the peace and serenity one felt was sublime! To top it off Dave and Jack (Jackie) , owners of this fabulous plot of land , kindly produced morning tea everyday for the boys which was gratefully devoured with gusto ! What an amazing and special couple they were !
Port Hedland, on the other hand, blends raw outback charm with the power of industry and rich Indigenous culture — all backed by unforgettable sunsets over the ocean and some of the most down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet.
Working on a remote mine site drilling multiple bores was isolating but in a good way. The camaraderie between the crew,project managers and miners was forged .

Our crew has had an amazing few weeks in the wheatbelt , finding water and enjoying the unique sights of this area .
Since coming back for a bit of RnR and maintenance on our rigs , the boys are ready to head back to the wheatbelt while our other teams are busy working in the south west .

Look at these two legends !
Johnathon & Timo recently completed their class 1 drilling exam , obtaining their class 1 Licence and passing with flying colours !

Typically ,to become a class 1 driller you need to gain significant on-the-job experience as a driller's assistant (offsider) for at least 12 months. alongside completing relevant training, which could take many months, before being eligible to apply for your Class 1 . Realistically , the process could take around a year or more depending on your experience and pace of learning .

To be a class 1 driller you need to understand the compliance requirements of their local state or territory.
Class 1 drillers need a good comprehension of basic geology to identify and properly access the single water table in their drilling area. Their license allows them to drill in areas with a single water-bearing layer.
This is a great achievement for these crew members and an asset to Aquatech Drilling .

There was a lot of stress leading up to the exam but these boys handled with true determination !
So a big congratulations on doing so well in your exams, we knew you could do it!👏

Meet the man behind Aquatech Drilling …
Meticulous and a perfectionist , Luke Garbelini has been a partner of Aquatech Drilling for approximately 4 years and sole owner for 2.5years . The journey to owning the company came about when 15 years ago he had the good fortune to be employed by Shane Williams who set out to create an independent water well drilling company- Aquatech Drilling back in the 80”s . Shane arguably is the most experienced and knowledgeable driller in WA .
After many years under the tutelage of Shane , Luke honed his skills and developed a feel and love for the drilling industry.
Eventually Shane decided to hang up the towel and offered the business to Luke and the succession story continues .
As Luke explains , "drilling for water is not just about digging a hole and finding water . A driller must have a passion for the job , a feel for the ground, knowledge of the topography and geography of the area and a genuine desire to do the best for your client"
. These skills do not come immediately. It takes a very long time to perfect the art and in Lukes case many years. I
As he says , "you only get one bite of the cherry so the task must be done correctly the first time ".Admittedly , this does not always go to plan . On rare occasions obstacles may be encountered such as large granite mounds that cant be predicted , the hole doesn’t yield water or may be salty . This does happen in some areas in WA however all assessments are taken prior to eradicate some of these curved balls . Unfortunately , we can never predict the quality of water or the yield if any and Luke is always truthful and honest when dealing and explaining this to clients .
With 4 rigs , a team of licenced & trainee drillers and Shane Williams giving a hand from time to time as consultant and driller , Aquatech Drilling is well placed to being able to service all sectors of the water well industry from domestic, agriculture , commercial and mining industries.

Mackie , the poodle has been a regular fixture in the office for a few years now. Previously a therapy dog , he has found his forever home and retired .
Pictured here with Mika , our office assistant , Mackie has a positive and calming influence on us all , greeting everybody in the morning , getting pats and cuddles and visiting the guys while they are working .
We take this opportunity on behalf of management ,staff and Mackie to wish everyone a fabulous Xmas and New year .
We will on break from the 21st Dec 2024 until the 6th Jan 2025
