🩷 Why I’m so exhausted 🩷

Every Monday I think damn, why am I so tired and aching all over? And I remember that on Friday after work I drove 3 hours, painted a ceiling then spent the entire day on Saturday painting walls and trims and laying flooring 😅 also trying desperately not to lose my mind because I ran out of glue when I was 3/4 of the way done gluing down the flooring arghhhh 🫠

Anyway, here’s what I finished with yesterday vs what I started with Friday night. I’m sad I couldn’t assemble the bed as the floors weren’t completely finished but at least I could set up some of the furniture and install the bedside lights 🙏🏻

How cute is our brand new third bedroom looking? 🥰

🐚 Beach House Reno Diary Day 6 🐚

Tired, delusional, still smashing it out!

After a super late night on day 5 we got the bunk room fully painted so day 6 was focused on painting the ceiling patch up, removing the horrific dirty sofas, getting the fireplace repaired, having a quick break to chop down an olive trees and cutting and laying flooring late into the night 😮‍💨

So pleased to have the hallway and bunk room flooring complete with just the kitchen and living area to go 🙌🏻

Apologies for the random captions, this is just the raw footage 🥰

🌸Another busy weekend renovating at the beach house 🌸

Just when we were done with renos we got a quote back from a local builder to build in the carport to make a third bedroom and he was available to start almost immediately so we went ahead with it. This meant that we wouldn’t have enough outdoor entertaining space as half the carport would be taken up and the other half wasn’t fully useable as the floor was sloped from when it was a driveway ramp. The front verandah also wasn’t very useable as it was mostly taken up with a ramp to the front door.

We got a quote for building a deck for the undercover area and along the front of the house which was $32,000…waaay over our budget! So we pivoted and got quotes to concrete instead to make the whole area level and usable. This cost $9,200 which was still quite an expense, but less than a third of the decking cost an no maintenance required ☺️

The result is that we now have a large, usable front verandah as well as an undercover outdoor entertaining space big enough for the bbq and an 8 seater table! While a deck would have been lovely, the cost was way too prohibitive and I think the concrete slab fits in really well with the 80s ranch style house ☺️

The plan is to plant out a lovely garden bed along the front of the verandah with a mix of hardy coastal loving plants and natives which will soften the concrete edges and frame the house beautifully and I’m so pleased with how the raised verandah has turned out.

I’ve got some cute pots filled with sun loving portulacas and room for my mum’s antique miners couch in front of the kitchen window now which we sat on so much over the weekend 💕

💗 My DIY Bathroom Vanity 💗

It started with a free antique table from marketplace as I needed something at least 55cm deep to accommodate my vintage shell basin (which I got bought a few years ago for $10 😍) then I added some extenders to the legs to make it taller from a free dining table.

The stripping journey was fun and I was hoping to get it back to raw timber but decided it would look nicer with the top varnished and the base painted instead ☺️ the original coral colour was too vibrant so I repainted in the same colour as the bathroom walls which works so much nicer!

Of course the bathroom reno was cursed and we ran out of tiles so rather than delaying the finish date and spending even more on tiles, we cut the legs back off of the vanity and installed it lower than we planned instead 😅

I made the cute little skirt removable with Velcro glued to the inside of the vanity base and added in some shelves to the bottom for storage and I think she turned out so beautiful 🥹Also only cost me less than $20 total in the end which is pretty amazing for a vanity 💗

What do you think? 💕

🐚 Beach House Reno Diary Day 5 🐚

Will drove up with more paint and spent a couple of hours setting up the new queen bed frame and washing machine which was so handy! We were going a little bit mad with the magnitude of the work we had to do so it was nice to have a little morale boost 🥰

I ripped up more of the living room carpet, did some important cleaning jobs and finished painting the bunk room with mum smashing out loads of the living room painting which made it so lovely and bright and cheerful instead of a dingy dark cave 😍

So exhausting but every time we cleaned something it made such a difference and made the house feel like less of a hovel 🙏🏻

Okay but how cute do the starfish k***s look? I’m so in love with how these cuties turned out 😍

I’ve also painted the matching bed frame in the same gorgeous purple shade and it’s ready and waiting at the beach house. I can’t wait until the new bedroom is finished and I can see them all set up together now 🥹💜

🐚 Beach House Reno Diary Day 4 🐚

The night before really reminded us how tricky it is being 2.5 hours away from the nearest Bunnings as running out of supplies isn’t just a simple 10 minute trip and it also means losing precious time having one person away from site!

I brought up soooo much paint but the bricks were like dry sponges that which sucked up the paint so much😩

I put a lot of thought into whether or not to use a spray gun to make painting the bricks easier but after reading lots of reviews I decided not to as the risk of the nozzle clogging up and needing a replacement seemed too high, especially as we were so far away from a hardware store. I also wanted to use as little paint as possible and needed to be able to paint each room around furniture and other bits so the overspray would have been a problem and I also factored in the prep time. Not only that but I had seen videos where other people sprayed their bricks and still had to go over the mortar lines to get good coverage so I figured this way we did it once, albeit time consumingly, and did it right ☺️

🩷 Why throw it away when you can fix it? 🩷

So glad I finally got to use this fixer upper 🥰

🐚 The perfect finishing touch 🐚

Sharing because I genuinely love this brand! 🩵

Not sponsored, just a huge fan of businesses that are Australian made and owned, offer refill pouch packs, are cruelty free and vegan so everyone can use them and smell and work amazingly too 😍😍

Huge bonus for me is the adorable blue packaging too, I mean what could be more perfect for the beach house? Oh and they’re also sold at Woollies and regularly on sale so they’re really affordable 🩵🩵

🐚 My latest upcycle 🐚

How gorgeous is this shade of purple? It’s called Saville Row and of course I got it for $5 per litre from my trusty local discount paint shop 💜

Last step is adding cute gold handles and lining the drawers with iridescent book covering for mermaidy vibes 🧜‍♀️

Which handles should I choose? Please let me know in the comments 💕
