Port Macquarie Community Gardens aims to establish and support community gardens.

The Lost Plot, Central Road, Port Macquarie

Thurs & Sat working bees, 9am-12pm

Mini Bees (kids & families), 9.15-10.45am, every 1st and 3rd Tues of the month

Junior Bees (afterschool bee), 3.15-4.45pm, every 2nd & 4th Tues of the month, term-time only We will begin work shortly and will keep the community posted about how you can help out and get your hands dirty, as well as all the wonderful

ways we can all benefit from it! They will be places which encourage opportunities for:

• Sharing knowledge and skills;
• Building and strengthening community connections;
• Sustainable gardening with a focus on food;
• Health and education;
• Growth and reflection; and

Junior Bees 🐝
International Mud Day 🐷

Our Junior Bees volunteers really got stuck in at this week’s working bee, digging up potatoes! No better reason to get muddy than when there are potatoes at the end of it 🙌🏻

❗️ Junior Bees has concluded for Term 2 and will resume on Tuesday 28th July. Junior Bees takes place every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 3.15-4.45pm, term-time only ❗️

In the meanwhile, Junior Bee families are welcome to join…

On this glorious morning, our fabulous volunteers enjoyed spending time at the community garden by…

🥬 planting lettuces and leeks

🫛 replacing old peas on trellis

🪏 composting the asparagus bed, ready for winter

🥦 Eat Your Vegetables Day

Our Mini Bee families had a fabulous morning…

🍓 planting strawberries

🌼 planting marigolds

🪱 feeding the worm farm

🥬 sampling lots of different vegetables, herbs and fruits that we grow here at The Lost Plot

Remember that there are FIVE TUESDAYS in June, so the next Mini Bees working bee will be 7th July (Mini Bees is every first and third Tuesday of the month, 9.15-10.45am).

Our Mini Bees families are also welcome to attend our Junior Bees working bee…

Junior Bees 🐝
Nature Journalling Week ✏️

Oh wow! The creativity of our Junior Bees was breathtaking. It was a privilege to see the children draw inspiration from the garden and record this in their very own Nature Journals.

Now that the rain has subsided and the garden drained, we could finally start to do a little gardening too, planting flowers to attract pollinators. And as always, we ensured that our worm farm enjoyed a good meal.

Junior Bees families; remember that we have one more Junior Bees working bee on Tuesday 23rd June before we finish up for the winter holidays.

Thursday working bee 🐝

Finally, the ground was dry enough for our working bee to do some actual gardening! This included…

✂️ mowing the lawns

🪏 adding compost to beds

🥔 planting more spuds

We also had the pleasure of introducing students from Nautilus Senior College to our community garden.

Enjoy the dry weather everybody, and remember that our Saturday working bee is on over the long weekend…
