Alexandra Kidd Design is a Sydney based Interior Design firm. We have a fabulous team of International award winning Designers and Interior Architects. We can work with you on all projects from redesigning one room, to renovating an entire house, and everything in between. We take the stress out of the design and building process, so you can enjoy it.

At Elemental House, the rumpus and the entry were designed from the start with no wall between them. In its place, glass sliding doors framed in warm bronze steel mark the threshold. Closed, the rumpus holds itself close and private. Open, it releases into the entry and staircase beyond, and the plan reads as one continuous space.⁠

Room division was never fixed. Separation or expansion is offered by the slide of a door, a threshold considered enough to work as a feature either way.⁠

Sometimes the right furniture piece for a room does not yet exist. So through the Atelier, we design it.⁠
⁠
The dining table for Skyline Reverie started as drawings and specifications: a 3.2 metre oval top resting on two sculpted bases. We sampled the colour until the tone sat warmly beside the oak joinery and pale marble of the kitchen. At the Set In Steel workshop, the top and bases were cast in moulds, then coated, finished and fitted with an Alexandra Kidd Atelier name plaque.⁠

The table was lifted by crane to the penthouse and guided in over the balcony, rain and all, a carefully timed moment in a day full of deliveries.⁠
⁠
It is custom. So was everything it took to bring it home.⁠

At Vista Royale, the master bedroom flows seamlessly into the ensuite. Light softens, and the materials speak to one another, carrying the warmth of one room into the next.⁠

The finer detail of Second Act.

The grain of timber. Reflections cast across gloss finishes. Curves of custom hardware. Air bubbles caught in custom glass bricks. Some details only reveal themselves in proximity.

Ripple House has carried a particular quality since day one: a gentle threshold from the outside rush to an inner calm. Even at structural stage you can feel it, the curves already shaping how the light will move and how life will drift through rooms and out toward the garden beyond.⁠

The past few months have had us moving between the studio and across the city: supplier visits, a hands-on workshop with Savage Design, our Harbour Haze photoshoot day, and an afternoon at Capybara Bathing with the team. Alongside it, a celebration of our inclusion in the Australian House & Garden Top 50 Rooms awards, and a moment for our Second Act feature in Belle magazine⁠

We are grateful for the heartfelt response to the reveal of Second Act, featured in this month’s Belle magazine.

We sat down with our Design Principal Alex and Lead Designer Emma to discuss how the project began, and how the home took on its own Second Act. Like a piece of theatre, it unfolds as a story of bold decisions, bookended by statements of colour and threaded through with marks of time, personality, and narrative.
