Last month we spotted the grubs and got them under control! 🐛
Now it’s time to repair the damage and bring your lawn back to life 🌱
For Canberra Blend, late Feb to April is the ideal window, so now is the perfect time to get started. 👌
1️⃣ Remove dead or damaged grass by raking or scarifying.
2️⃣ Mow any healthy existing lawn to around 40mm.
3️⃣ Aerate to relieve compaction and help new, delicate grass seedling roots grow deeper.
4️⃣ Apply soil amendments (based on soil pH test and jar test). For example, Gypsum if you have a high clay soil.
5️⃣ Top dress with a quality sandy loam.
6️⃣ Rake shallow furrows into the top dress material.
7️⃣ Sow new seed. Don't be shy. Apply 5kg's per 100m2 of Canberra Blend seed (Tall Fescue/Kentucky Bluegrass mix).
8️⃣ Use a roller to help push the seed into the soil. If you don't have a roller, you can lightly rake the opposite direction. Both will work.
9️⃣ Water consistently to keep the seed moist until germination. Avoid pooling or runoff.
Pro tips 🧑🌾
• Apply a granular wetting agent after seeding.
• If birds or rabbits are eating your seed, you can cover it with a geofabric material (weetmat) to allow it to germinate. Once it has germinated, remove the cover straight away.
