Today at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we proudly remember those who have fallen in service to our country.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them.
Lest We Forget.

UPDATE 05 SEPTEMBER 2024:

Today was a huge day for Macchi 025 progress. The long awaited journey of getting the centre section inspection completed has taken place!

This is an extremely difficult, time consuming and very specific job utilising mostly retired methods of Rubber Magnetic Particle Inspection.

To do this, Mag rubber is inserted into the bolt holes of the centre section and magnets are used as the rubber sets to create a mould. This mould is removed and any defects are measured and detected.

The space available to do this work is very small and awkward but our talented NDI technician has worked his magic and years of Macchi NDI experience to complete the task.

All the bolt holes have been inspected and so far so good. A report will be generated with the final tick and the task will be able to be signed off!

This is a HUGE step forward for Macchi 25. Without a suitable centre section the aircraft simply cannot fly. Now we can progress with more progress in other areas of the aircraft.

Macchi 25 cannot thank Mr Tony Collier and his son Brendan of Aerospace NDI based in Bassendean near Perth WA for their continued support and commitment to the Macchi 25 project. Without these individuals working to overcome many issues the job just wouldn’t be able to be completed.

We also would like to thank Vintage Fighter Restorations, Pays Aviation and East Coast Aircraft Maintenance for their support and help in getting this huge task done.

Photos and more details will follow shortly but we are very excited to have this update to share with you all!

A big week ahead for Macchi 025!

This week will hopefully result in our centre section work being completed!
A mammoth task with some great minds and skilled technicians undertaking the work.

We will provide some updates as the work is completed throughout the week.

A few photos of 25 back in service at RAAF Base Pearce and some of the NDI prep work previously conducted at Scone.

Update Aug 2024:

Another few parts collected over the last few weeks for Macchi 025. Air intakes, inverted fuel tank, flight controls, air brake, landing gear doors, MLG Upper struts, rudder bell cranks, flight controls, fairings and some instruments.

In some great news we have a big step forward with the return of our expert NDI team planned for early September.

The reason this is so important is the centre section must be fully completed before we go assembling major parts of the aircraft. The team we have in place has worked with Macchi’s and developed the processes in the RAAF service life of the aircraft. This experience is unbeatable and we are so happy to have worked with the guys for the last few years through a number of hurdles.

This is an exciting time for the project. There hasn’t been too many updates over the past 12 months but we can assure you that there has been some progress even if only in the background.

We have found a suitable location for engine, fuel tank and avionics overhaul.

As always we would like to thank Pays Aviation for their continued support and giving Macchi 025 a place to call home.

Stay tuned in the next month for some new photos and updates on the project.

We can confirm the project hasn’t stopped and we are still fully committed to getting a Macchi flying in Australia.

Safe flying everyone!

It seems like forever since there has been a progress update on the Macchi A7-025 Restoration.

It has been a slow an tedious time for the group but we can assure everyone that this is still happening and we are committed to getting a Macchi flying in Australia.

Macchi 025 is a seperate organisation to other warbirds operated at Scone but is very good friends and proud to be associated with Pay’s air Service where the aircraft is currently stored.

Shortly we are hoping to have a proper and exciting update on the airframe itself. In the background we have looked at options for the fuel tanks overhaul, engine restoration/inspections, ejection seat options, instrument requirements and set up and painting.

The aircraft is to be based at Scone and call the upper Hunter home.

Shortly there will be a go-fund-me page created with specific outcomes. We want to show where your money has gone and how it has assisted so that you can stand next to the aircraft and say “I was apart of that parts restoration”.

This will be the people’s Macchi and operated to show them the history of this airframe in RAAF service and it’s connection to the Hunter Valley.

Stay tuned and stick with us!
