5800 planted at a privately funded revegetation project near Loch in South Gippsland. The site was broken into 2, the very wet flat area, and the rising section above it. Water loving plants on the low lying ground, lowland forest species on the rise. Site preparation was done in early June when it was possible to drive all over the site. With the rain that has fallen since, it was too wet to even drive through the gate. The beef cattle on the property will appreciate the shade and shelter privided in the coming years ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

Our biggest planting job of the season is completed, with rain due tomorrow to water them in ๐Ÿ™Œ
8000 mixed indigenous seedlings along a fairly steep gully between Warragul and Korumburra in the Strzelecki Ranges. We started by the tree at the top (circled) and worked our way down the hill, with a side section planted out as well. This will be a great revegetation project as it develops over time ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

3400 mixed indigenous tubes on their way to a concert planting๐Ÿค”
Gippsland has a younger person Landcare group called Intrepid Landcare, a fantastic idea for the youth of the region to get together and do some environmental work.
Once a year they hold a small concert with a few bands on a Saturday afternoon and evening, get some rest, and plant a few thousand plants for a few hours the next day. It's a great way to spend time with like minded people, network and have some fun. I think these plants are in good hands ๐Ÿ…๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

17,000 trees, shrubs and grasses graded out ready to plant. It takes days of preparation before the first seedling goes in the ground. With 50mm of rain falling here in the past week, the ground is going to be soft and the seedlings will get a good start ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

42,000 plants delivered to a planting contractor this week ๐Ÿ’ช The plants, predominantly grass species, are to be planted on the urban fringe of the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The planting is designed to improve the habitat for a Southern Brown Bandicoot population. They require thick ground cover to hide from predators, and a dense planting like this project will definitely do the job ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

1.7km of windbreak, 10m wide planting 5250 indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses on this site at San Remo, near Phillip Island. The family has planted 10's of 1000's of trees here over the years, and it's a privilege to keep the good work going. This area gets pretty windy, so it's refreshing to see most of the paddocks bounded by trees and shrubs ๐Ÿ™Œ We were lucky enough to see a pair of Sea Eagles which call an old cypress tree their home, with 2 nests in the forks of branches. One of the eagles is visible to the top right of the photo. Biodiversity can live with farming, this property is a great example of this ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

We get about Gippsland a bit this time of year doing planting jobs. This one at San Remo had a pretty good view as we finished off. That's Westernport Bay about 50m in the background ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Planting out some windbreaks around the calf rearing paddocks on a dairy farm into South Gippsland. Two rows were planted a bit closer than usual (2m apart) to provide a tight vegetation screen. One row just shrubs, one row alternating a shrub and a tree. Shade and shelter in one go ๐Ÿ™Œ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ

Not all of our planting jobs are 1000's of plants. We haven't forgotten where we started, and still cater for windbreaks on farms.
This one was only a couple of hundred, and we combined it with another job to make it a day's work. We planted a couple of thousand here about 8 years ago and they have grown really well. It's rewarding to see how our seedlings grow over the years.
There is a perspective that you plant trees for future generations. While this is true, the benefits flow through to the current generation pretty quickly ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ
