Breeya beach house!

Breeya remains a masterpiece of design, even years later, with its stunning architecture and breathtaking views of the surrounding rainforest and glimpses of the Bingil Bay beach.
This holiday beach house project was entrusted to me by my father to design back in the mid nineties for the clients.
It was a thrill to work on the totality of design which included cabinetry and even a one-off timber refectory table built by Innisfail Joinery.
All the best to Ray White Mission Beach to the future sale to a new owner of this unique beach house.
Cheers Paul Marsh

Paton House - Artek Building Design
Locale - Port Hinchinbrook, FNQ
Builder - Anrass P/L

Ok this house designed by Artek Building Design is now relishing in it's statigic geometric form, though the specific install of an protective overcoat of BlueScope Australia Spandek profile COLORBOND steel Ultra for coastal protection.
This profile gives strong shadow casting, aiding in texture against the rendered masonry expressed piers and walls beneath. Infills are dealt with via hugh and appropriately scaled glazing allowing light + maximum ventilation through the home, which can be fine tuned according to the summer pumping Northerlies or protection from the winter Southerlies reducing reliance on artificial cooling etc.
Internally the surprise of the dramatic vaulted ceiling trussed roof will shortly be clad in a fine timber ship-lap profile, giving a modern coastal finesse to the appropriately sized living space!

What an opportunity!
Originally commissioned by the owner and developer of the Lugger Bay, Artek Building Design was entrusted to design this unique home ensuing that it encapsulated the site's assets. The home breaks out over a ridge line of the property to enable excitement and dramatical effect of vegetated picture framed views, capturing beautiful Lugger Bay and the Family Group of Islands beyond. While the rear of the living space has been designed to hunker down into the site it enables protection from the Southerly winds during the slim picking of winter that we have here in Mission Beach. With the inclusion of a built in fireplace to the Northern deck to warm you in case it does get below 10 degrees.

The rest I will leave to sell its self via Ray White Mission Beach 's excellent video.

Paton House -Artek Building Design

Located at Port Hinchinbrook, Cardwell this house is now taking on the challenge of change to the mediocre housing around it. Its highly skillioned roof now revealing its geometric form and unique shape encompassing courtyards and future landscaping.
The owner who also is the builder- Anrass P/L has embraced this unique design of large open living spaces which open onto an appropriate verandah, while views even from the front door capture the expansive vista of the islands beyond. A wide gallery space links the entry to the living while opening fully to the outside garden courtyard on one side and bedroom opposite.
The roof is a one off unique design which will surprisingly reveal a vaulted ceiling high above the living spaces adding volume and drama!
It is also in the early stages of construction of the drop fascia’s and soffits which will aid in the lines and geometry of the buildings form.
Will be terrific to see the next stage of installation of claddings to the building to exaggerate shape and texture.

2 Houses - The Bungalows and Tulloch House
By Artek Building Design
Morning walk

Great to see how these two developments have morphed into the environment in the Wheately’s Creek precinct.
Although they are positioned in close proximity to the beach front dune, they are in no way intrusive to the eye from the beach. The Bungalows original Zinc Alume corrugated roof has also melded to a low grey colour, making it harder to spot.
It shows, with a bit of thought how well buildings can work in the environment while also enriching people during their stay.
Having both developments sighted around the creek, the buildings also endeavour to educate of the importance of the creek’s environmental importance with guests also having the chance to see how it works during different tidal changes.

This is a awesome reuse of an old building into a mixed use facility that is very deserving of its award.
The finish of steelwork and existing timber gives great homage to its original use.
Having walked through the building on recent visits to Brisbane it is an admirable respect I admire of its rawness and finesse.

A brewery and hospitality venue set within an old sawtooth-roofed warehouse has won the John Dalton Award for Building of the Year in the Greater Brisbane Regional Architecture Awards.
