If you ever service your own taps, one mistake you should avoid is wrapping plumbing tape around the thread on this type of tap setup. It doesn’t create the proper seal and can still lead to leaks.

The correct way to service these taps is by replacing the fibre washer inside the tap assembly to ensure a proper seal. On this job, we also replaced the O-ring, applied fresh grease to the tap mechanism, and changed the tap washer to get everything running smoothly again.

It’s also important to reset the tap seating if necessary to ensure the new washer seals correctly. On this occasion, the seating was still in good condition, so no reseating was required.

Toilet installation completed in Auburn 🚽🔧
Today’s job involved removing an existing toilet base, which required bringing in the jackhammer to carefully break out the old concrete footing.
This type of removal needs to be done with precision from the rear access, working carefully to minimise any potential damage to the surrounding tiles while still allowing proper removal of the old base.
Once everything was cleared out, the new toilet was installed, set in position, and secured correctly with all connections tested.
Clean finish, solid install, and everything left leak free and ready to go. 👌

New laundry taps installed today in Hurstville 🔧💧
One common mistake that causes taps to wear out prematurely is over-tightening them when turning the water off. Excess force can damage the washer and internal components over time, eventually leading to leaking taps and unnecessary repairs.
These new laundry taps were installed correctly, tested thoroughly, and operate smoothly with only light pressure needed to shut the water off properly.
Small habits like this can help extend the lifespan of your plumbing fixtures and keep everything functioning efficiently for longer. 👌

Laundry tap upgrade completed in under 25 seconds 🔧💧
On this job in Homebush, the old laundry taps were upgraded with a new set of hot and cold washing machine taps along with fresh chrome cover plates for a much cleaner finish.
The new ceramic disc taps are far easier to use, requiring only a simple quarter turn to operate compared to older traditional spindle taps. They’re smoother, more reliable, and much quicker to turn on and off when needed.
Clean installation, tested thoroughly, and left leak free. 👌

New toilet installation completed in Ashfield 🚽🔧
On this job, the existing water point was positioned slightly too high, preventing the toilet lid from sitting completely flush. To ensure everything fitted correctly and operated as intended, a neat modification was made to the lid for proper clearance around the water connection.
After reviewing the installation, an alternative option would have been lowering the water point itself, as the wall behind the toilet had accessible pipework. One of the important parts of the plumbing trade is constantly learning, improving, and identifying cleaner installation methods for future jobs.
The final result came up neat, secure, fully functional, and leak free. 👌

What starts as a small drip under the sink can quickly turn into major water damage if left untreated. In this job, both isolation valves had begun failing internally, along with a worn flexi connection causing ongoing leakage.
The old components were removed, new isolation taps installed, and a fresh flexi hose fitted before fully pressure testing the system to ensure everything was operating correctly with zero leaks.
Preventative plumbing maintenance goes a long way in avoiding costly repairs down the track.

Another clean bathroom upgrade completed in Ryde 🔧💧
Today’s job involved upgrading an older set of basin taps to a modern basin mixer — a much cleaner look, easier to use day-to-day, and backed by a better manufacturer warranty.
Also installed new hot and cold isolation taps underneath the basin. These are a great addition to any plumbing system, allowing the water to be isolated locally in the event of an emergency or future maintenance without needing to shut down the entire property’s water supply.
Everything supplied, installed, tested, and left leak free. 👌

Take your toilet from this ➡️ to this in under 42 seconds 🚽
Today’s install featured one of my go-to models — the Caroma Luna Close Coupled Back to Wall.
Why do I rate this one so highly? Compared to a full back-to-wall setup, you don’t have to change the inlet valve (unless you choose to upgrade it). That means a quicker, cleaner install without unnecessary extras — saving time and keeping things efficient.
Simple, reliable, and a sharp finish every time.

Double install day in Burwood 🚽🚽
Two toilet installations completed for the client, with a focus on doing it right for the long term — not just the quick fix.
We upgraded both inlet valves to Fluidmaster systems, making future maintenance faster, easier, and more cost-effective.
On top of that, we replaced the mini isolation taps, so if anything ever needs servicing down the track, the valves can be changed without hassle.
Clean install, compliant setup, and built with future maintenance in mind.

Thinking of doing a new toilet installation? Here’s one thing you’ll thank yourself for later 👇
If you’re going with a back-to-wall model, make sure your plumber upgrades the inlet valve.
Why? Because when it comes time for maintenance, accessing and replacing a standard inlet valve can be a real headache — often involving removing part of the toilet.
Upgrading to a Fluidmaster inlet valve makes future servicing much easier, allowing it to be replaced without pulling the pan apart. That means less labour, lower costs, and a smarter long-term setup.
Small upgrade now… big savings later.
