How do you achieve even fibre distribution on site?

See the SteelX fibre blower in action.

Designed for on-site use, the blower helps distribute SteelX fibres evenly throughout the concrete mix — supporting better quality assurance, reduced installation risk, and helping deliver consistent concrete.

It’s a practical solution for projects where consistency, efficiency, and performance matter.

Curing should not be the weak link in a good concrete design.

E5 Internal Cure helps engineers reduce curing-related risk by controlling water within the concrete matrix, supporting improved hydration, lower shrinkage, and denser, harder concrete.

It can also reduce the need for wet curing, curing compounds, sealers, densifiers, and hardeners, helping simplify site delivery while improving durability outcomes.

For engineers looking to Make Concrete Better from inside the mix, we’d be glad to partner with you.

Proud to be onsite with Steel X, supporting a new helicopter hangar build.

McClay Industries supplied and dosed SteelX 8:45 throughout the footing works. SteelX 8:45 is designed for structural and high-load concrete applications. The twisted geometry provides mechanical interlock with the concrete matrix, improving both durability and serviceability of the structure.

Next up: we’ll be back to dose 200m³ for the internal slab pour.

Tight access. Wet weather. Strict airport standards.
Handled with precise onsite dosing and consistent product performance.

8% thinner at the interior. 10% thinner at the edge. Same loads. Same code. Same factor of safety.

That's the result on the warehouse floor shown here, designed to CCAA T48 with SteelX 5:25 fibres integrated into the calculation.

On a 10,000 m² slab, an 8% thickness reduction is roughly 175 m³ of concrete you don't pour. Material, labour, program time, and embodied carbon — all down. Without compromising the AS 3600 punching shear check (visible in the report, factored load 26.9% of capacity, sitting comfortably).

This is what fibre-reinforced design should look like:
⚙️ Smarter design — fibres included in the flexural calc, not bolted on afterwards
🛡️ Code-compliant — AS 3600 and CCAA T48 checks fully visible
📄 One report — optimisation, checks, and outputs in a single deliverable

If you're still designing slabs without modelling the fibre contribution, you're leaving thickness — and your client's budget — on the table.

Engineers are often asked to reduce joints, control cracking, improve durability, and keep slab designs practical on-site.

That’s where we partner best.

McClay supports engineering teams with technical input, project experience, and practical joint-free slab solutions that help turn design intent into buildable outcomes.

To engineers exploring better ways to approach slab performance, we’d be glad to partner with you.

Quick question: in a warehouse floor, what governs the slab thickness — the forklift or the racking?

Most engineers would back the forklift - heavy, moving, dynamic load.

But in the design shown here, racking won. Static post loads at 50 kN, spaced 2m × 2m, drove a thicker slab than anything the forklift could throw at it.

If you'd designed for the forklift and stopped there, you'd have under-sized the slab.

This is exactly why running every load case matters — and why doing it by hand in a spreadsheet is so risky. One missed case, one wrong assumption about which load governs, and you're either over-designing (and losing the job) or under-designing (and wearing the consequence).

Mi Concrete Design runs all load cases simultaneously and flags the governing one automatically — for both interior and edge conditions. Full CCAA T48 calcs, every equation visible, every chart shown. No black box.
🎯 Accurate — CCAA T48 compliant
