O.G.E GROUP Architects Our focus is on approaching architecture as an art form. Regarding design as an evolutionary process

O.G.E Group is a young energetic architectural firm on the Sunshine Coast that consists of a team of highly skilled and experienced architects and design professionals. The firm’s principal and sole director, John Robertson, has worked in the industry for fourteen years on numerous projects of various scales and types from Port Douglas to Sydney, to China. John is a true Sunshine Coast local, havi

ng lived here all his life, and is extremely passionate about the area and community he has chosen to base the firm within. John instills this love for architecture and the coast to all the members of his team to ensure absolute accountability for each project the company produces. Since establishing the firm late 2008 we have had the honour of designing a considerable number of significant projects both here on the Sunshine Coast and Internationally. We are proud to have the opportunity to design the $25million Sea Pearl development on the Esplanade at Mooloolaba. The project consists of residential apartments, serviced offices, pool and recreational facilities, ground floor retail, restaurants and shops, and a multi level sub-ground basement. We have worked alongside Leadbetter Developments to ensure the entire project remains on a controlled path from concept through to completion of construction. Other recent projects include the design and documentation of proposed GP super clinics in Maroochydore and Nambour, masterplanning and clubhouse design for the proposed Horton Park Golf Club relocation option to Diddilabah, affordable housing projects for project services, and DHA townhouse developments, to name a select few. O.G.E Group prides itself on having the ability to design any project at any scale applying quality architectural education, with an intense passion for listening and researching the clients brief and needs. We deliver strong and dynamic designs and buildings working alongside the client, consultants, and builder to ensure the idea becomes a reality, on budget.

Project Amaroo
Designed by O.G.E GROUP ARCHITECTS
Built by GOLD LEAF CONSTRUCTIONS

Stone, wood, concrete and glass — four materials, held in tension, doing exactly one job each.

The gable’s timber-lined soffit does the work of a ceiling and a shade device at once, so the upper level reads as sheltered rather than enclosed. Below it, the stacking doors retract into the stone, and the threshold between the dining room and the deck disappears — one slab, one line, no step.

The last frame is the payoff: a two-storey void that borrows the valley and the coastline and brings them all the way to the table.

Detailing this restrained only photographs well because it was resolved that carefully in the first place.

Project Amaroo - Day & Night

Same project, two moods. By day, deep eaves and timber battens do the heavy lifting against the Queensland sun. By dusk, those same screens stop shielding and start revealing.

This sits at the core of how we approach every project, looking beyond immediate outcomes to consider how places will function, adapt and contribute over time.

It’s about designing with intent, responding to context, and creating work that supports both present needs and future growth.

Drift, Coolum Beach

An award-winning multi-residential project comprising 56 apartments, designed in response to its coastal setting and the lifestyle it supports.

The project balances scale with liveability, using a considered material palette, orientation and spatial planning to maximise light, ventilation and connection to place.

A project that reflects how thoughtful design can deliver density while maintaining the character and quality expected of coastal living.

OGE is a local architectural practice shaped by place, people and the way communities evolve over time.

Our work spans multi-residential, masterplanning, commercial and community projects, each approached with a focus on context, collaboration and long-term value.

We’re not driven by a single style, but by a consistent approach, understanding the site, responding to the region, and designing outcomes that feel considered, functional and connected to their surroundings.

With the Sunshine Coast continuing to grow, the way we design for the region will need to evolve alongside it.

So what does that look like in 10 years?
How do we balance density with character, growth with liveability, and change with what people value most about this place?

We’re interested to hear your perspective, what do you think design on the Sunshine Coast will look like in the next decade?
