When waterproofing goes wrong, it really goes wrong. This Sunshine Coast bathroom had a complete membrane failure and—believe it or not—a timber hob 😬. Moisture had nowhere to go but into the structure, causing swelling, rot, and damage behind the tiles.

We’ve stripped it right back and rebuild the shower recess only, using compliant materials, correct waterproofing systems, and proper fall to waste. Built to last this time ✅

I won’t lie… this one was a bit of a shock at first 😅

But the owners are absolutely stoked with how it turned out — and honestly, so are we.

This home sits on highly reactive soils, so we made the smart call to go with an acrylic shower tray instead of a tiled bed 👌 A practical choice that still looks clean and modern.

We also relocated the shower away from the window — and what a difference that made. Such a nice change to the overall layout and feel of the space.
