🌹 Rose Pruning Part 1: When to prune + must-have products!

In Melbourne, the best time to prune your roses is on or before June 21st. Why? Because this is when roses are at their lowest EB during the growing season, making it the ideal time to prepare them for a healthy burst growth.

What to look out for after pruning:

🌱 Fungal disease prevention
One of the most important sprays you'll use all year is Lime Sulphur. Safe & low toxicity, it helps control fungal issues and should be applied immediately after pruning.

🌱 Mulch for healthy growth
Once you've finished pruning, apply a fresh layer of mulch around your roses to help retain moisture, suppress weeds and improve soil health.

🌱 Check for scale insects
Pruning often reveals scale hiding beneath the foliage and on stems. Treat any infestations with Pest Oil to keep your roses healthy and pest-free.

🌱 What's next?
6–8 weeks after pruning your roses will start waking up and need feeding. We recommend growbetter Blooming Roses, an organic fertiliser high in potassium that encourages strong growth and abundant blooms.

If disease is already present, follow up with Yates Rose Spray to help keep your roses looking their best.
