March is also considered the most colourful month and the best time to observe the spiritual rituals as the country holds plenty of festivals, with Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon is often at the heart of these celebrations.😊

Every Thadingyut, the town of Kyaukse in Myanmar’s Mandalay Region comes alive with the Elephant Dance Festival, a one-of-a-kind tradition that blends devotion, history, and artistry.

Dating back to the reign of King Anawrahta, the festival honors the white elephant that carried the Buddha’s sacred tooth relic to Shwethalyaung Hill.

Dancers step inside giant handmade elephant costumes crafted from bamboo, paper, and fabrics, moving gracefully to the beat of drums, flutes, and gongs to mimic the strength and beauty of elephants.

Alongside the performances, locals continue the age-old ritual of donating elephant effigies and toys as offerings, symbolizing gratitude and faith.
