Last Thursday evening I had the pleasure of joining for a thoughtful panel discussion on the art of lighting stone with artificial light ✨
Alongside , , and , we explored how light can reveal texture, depth, and the quiet beauty within natural materials—transforming stone into something truly expressive after dark.
Grateful to be part of such an inspiring conversation and to share ideas with creatives who are just as passionate about the intersection of light, material, and design.

What does darkness mean to you?

Potential.

One of our highlights from Frankfurt’s Light and Build.

We spend a great deal of time in showrooms - because exceptional lighting design begins with knowing the product intimately.

Reviewing new releases. Examining finishes. Understanding optics, output and performance.

At Wildly Illuminating, we remain across the latest lighting collections both domestically and internationally - ensuring every specification is informed, current and technically resolved.

Because considered lighting is never accidental.

With thanks to for hosting us.

LIGHT x COLOUR

A collaboration in perception, material and spatial intelligence.
Architects design form - but light and colour define how it is experienced.

Join Sonia Van de Haar of Lymesmith and Genevieve Wild of Wildly Illuminating for an immersive exploration into how light and colour co-author architecture.

Together we will unpack:
• Visual Perception: How the eye interprets brightness, shadow and depth
• Materiality’s Influence: How surface, texture and reflectance alter spatial reading
• Colour’s Behaviour: Why colour shifts, absorbs, amplifies and transforms under light
• Ceiling Treatments: The fifth wall as a spatial and luminous plane

Spatial Contrast: Using calibrated light and colour to sculpt hierarchy and mood

Sonia brings architectural rigour and fine arts sensitivity to intelligent colour design that connects people to place and enhances wellbeing.
Genevieve brings deep expertise in high-end residential lighting, layering illumination to reveal texture, material and architectural intent.

This is not decorative conversation.
It is design strategy.
For architects seeking precision, clarity and atmosphere in equal measure.

“We didn’t realise how much lighting would change how we feel in winter—our home feels like a retreat now.”

When lighting is layered thoughtfully, it transforms not just how a space looks, but how it lives.

It brings softness, rhythm, and comfort to the shorter days.

And it all starts with early planning - where the most meaningful moments take shape.

Let’s design your winter retreat from the ground up.

50 Hot Picks from Milan Design Week _ Belle Magazine

Each year, Milan reaffirms its place as the epicentre of design innovation- and this year’s lighting installations were nothing short of transcendent. From poetic pendants to sculptural wall forms, the fair was aglow with creativity, craftsmanship, and cutting-edge control.
What stood out? A movement toward warm tactility and expressive minimalism. Think alabaster diffusers, hand-patinated brass, and organic geometries—lighting that doesn’t just function, but feels. Across every hall, there was a quiet confidence in the way light was shaping not just spaces, but emotional resonance.

I was thrilled to be on the ground covering all things lighting, for . There’s something deeply affirming about seeing the global design community come together to celebrate light—not as an afterthought, but as the very soul of a space.

More from Milan soon… but for now, I’m still basking in the glow.

At Salone del Mobile 2025, light was not only a medium—it was a material. Across the pavilions, we saw a profound shift: away from the purely sculptural, towards luminaires defined by woven fibres, pleated papers, natural textiles, and raw tactility.

This year, materiality took centre stage. Designers explored translucency and texture with a newfound tenderness, where the interplay of light and fabric created moments of softness, warmth, and intimacy. These were pieces that invited touch as much as they cast glow- lighting as sensory sculpture.

In a world leaning toward the digital and the polished, this return to organic, handcrafted, and textural design feels quietly revolutionary. It’s a reminder that lighting doesn’t just shape a room visually- it shapes how we feel within it.
