FUTURE FORM | Stone Manor House | ⁠Reflecting on the construction of Stone Manor House, a significant three storey, five bedroom heritage residence in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. ⁠

The original fabric of this late Victorian villa is unusual for its mass sandstone and at times structurally challenging. Our team worked closely with Fairweather Constructions to address ongoing discoveries during the process of restructuring the basement and intermediate floors, detailing new architectural elements to sit comfortably alongside the existing sandstone materiality⁠. ⁠

Selected to read as one continuous colour, the hues respond to shifting natural light with a deeper saturation in the window alcove to emphasise architectural form and unify the space.⁠

As a reconstructed wing to the historic homestead structure, materiality and detailing is applied with more contemporary expression compared to elsewhere in the venue.⁠
⁠
Diagonally set V groove panelling in Dulux Thicket references the heritage green of the original homestead kitchen ceiling and modern architraves frame doorways and the kitchen pass. ⁠

Each space is anchored by its own unique visual narrative with colour operating as a core storytelling device, guiding guests through the venue and shaping mood, intimacy and atmosphere. ⁠

“Billy’s is best experienced through glimpses across multiple rooms, where the layers unfold and the eclecticism truly sings. ⁠An explosion of colour, pattern, texture and finishes are like a feast sampling every flavour on the menu.

It should be overwhelming but somehow it’s deeply satisfying, unexpectedly harmonious and visually delicious," writes Team Leader Alice Noguès.
